Situated in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, the Banke Bihari Mandir is a popular temple dedicated to Lord Krishna in the form of Banke Bihari.
The temple is known for its grand Holi festivities attended by thousands.
The Banke Bihari form of the deity was installed at the temple by Swami Haridas. It is believed that Lord Krishna and Radha came in Swami Haridas’ dream and left the image to him.
It is said that the curtains are drawn occasionally on the deity as one may lose their consciousness if they stare at it for too long.
