Mahua (Hindi: महुआ scientific name: Madhuca longifolia) is also known as divine tree, from the eyes of ayurveda practitioner. Every part of it is used in one form or another. One of the finest natural cosmetics are produced with Mahua Oil. Also used as hair fixer.
Its bark are used for medicinal properties. Chapatis made with its flowers are served to pregnant women in tribal villages, as it reduces the pain, and has a little intoxicating qualities. It works like charm in rheumatism, skin disease and headache. Known for its laxative properties, works well on patients suffering from piles, constipation etc.
It is used as bio fuel. Tassar Silk are produced by moth who feed on its flowers. One can consume flower in moderation for its sweetness. Jam and jellies are made with it.
Seedcake obtained after oil extraction is a great fertilizer, and is also used in fisheries because of its alkanoid nature.
