Most fruit proposes a plethora of vitamins and minerals to it’s consumer. And whilst the cringeworthy term, ‘nature’s candy’ is descriptively tragic, fruit is a source of sweet tasting whole food than offers micronutrients for overall health, fibre for satiety and water for hydration.
-
-
As you can see, each fruit has a different macro-nutritional make up. Some have more sugar, others have less. Some have more calories, others have less. And (not displayed here), some have more fibre, whilst others have less. -
-
It is worth noting that sugar extracted from fruit will have the exact same metabolic result as sugar extracted from a snickers. But the combination of sugar and fibre consumed via a whole food (in this case fruit) makes it more likely to satisfy one’s hunger more than food comprising of sugar and minimal fibre. However, one’s attainment of satiety will differ from another’s. -
-
Fruit is a more nutritious, calorie sparse source of energy than confectionary. But it is important to realise that caloric values of any food count towards overall energy balance. Fibre density per calories consumed may make one ‘feel fuller’ and therefore aid adherence to overall energy targets - especially calorie deficits.
-
-
Thus, consuming any item of ‘sweet’ tasting food is a valid option, but those which provide more satiety after consumption may support one’s energy balance more, whilst also delivering a host of nutritious advantages at the same time. 🔥

Health Hacks!
➡️After 4 weeks of kiwi consumption, researchers found significant improvements to several measures of sleep:
➡️People fell asleep more quickly. Sleep onset latency—the amount of time it takes to fall asleep after going to bed—decreased by 35.4%.
➡️People slept more soundly. Waking time after sleep onset—the amount of time spent in periods of wakefulness after initially falling asleep—fell 28.9%. Sleep quality improved. Scores on a standardized sleep quality questionnaire—where lower scores mean better sleep—decreased by 42.4%.
➡️Sleep efficiency—a measurement of the amount of time spent actually sleeping compared to the total amount of time spent in bed—increased by 5.41%.
➡️People slept more overall. Total sleep time among the volunteers increased by 13.4%.

👉Introduction
Shock (not to be confused with emotional shock) is a life-threatening condition which happens when the body isn’t getting enough flow of blood.
This means that the cells don’t get enough oxygen to enable them to work properly, which can lead to damage of the vital organs like the brain and the heart.
👉Shock can be caused by anything that reduces the flow of blood, including:
heart problems, such as a heart attack, or heart failure
severe internal or external bleeding
loss of body fluids, from dehydration, diarrhoea, vomiting or burns
severe allergic reactions and severe infection
If someone has any of the conditions above, which can reduce the circulation or blood flow, they could develop shock, so you may need to treat them for this condition as well.
👉What to look for - shock
If you think somebody could be suffering from shock, there are seven key things to look for:
Paleness of the face (pallor)
Cold, clammy skin
Fast, shallow breathing
Fast, weak pulse
Yawning or sighing
Confusion
Loss of consciousness (in extreme cases)
👉What you need to do - shock
If they are showing signs of shock:
Lay them down with their head low and legs raised and supported, to increase the flow of blood to their head.
Call for medical help and say you think they are in shock, and explain what you think caused it (such as bleeding or a heart attack).
Loosen any tight clothing around the neck, chest and waist to make sure it doesn’t constrict their blood flow
Fear and pain can make shock worse, by increasing the body’s demand for oxygen, so while you wait for help to arrive, it’s important to keep them comfortable, warm and calm. Do this by covering them with a coat or blanket and comforting and reassuring them
Keep checking their breathing, pulse and level of response.
If they lose consciousness at any point, open their airway, check their breathing, and prepare to treat someone who has become unconscious.
