Sopore Police recovered Illicit Diesel and takes appropriate legal action.
Sopore, 25 Feb 2024:
Sopore Police recovered illicit Diesel from the village Chatoosa in the jurisdiction of Police Station Dangiwacha.
A specific information was received regarding the transportation of an illicit Diesel and accordingly, a police party of PS Dangiwacha headed by SHO Dangiwacha Insp. Jan Mohammad conducted raid at the specific location.
During the raid, the police party recovered six barrels of illicit Diesel approximately 750 litres from the spot.
The accused involved was identified as Babar Shams Baba S/O Shams ud Din Baba R/O Jalal Abad Sopore.
In this regard, a case under FIR No. 11/2024 under relevant sections of law in Police Station Dangiwacha has been registered and investigation has been set into motion.
Sopore Police would like to earnestly appeal the general public to co-operate with the law enforcement agencies in the battle against crime. Any information regarding any social evils or any other unlawful activities can be shared with the Sopore Police through the nearest police station or by simply dialling 112.

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 23: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated the new Girls Hostel at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar, today.
The Lt Governor congratulated the NIT management, faculty members and students on the occasion.
“The facility is dedicated to our daughters who are breaking the barriers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics- STEM education and ready to shape the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem,” he said.
The Lt Governor emphasized on developing specialized workforce to meet the industry demands who should also be capable of solving local challenges.
“The biggest responsibility of the institutions like NIT today is to create new generation of innovators. We should focus on developing Innovation-driven economy in Amrit Kaal to strengthen innovation ecosystem in the country,” the Lt Governor said.
The Lt Governor called upon the faculty members to create a conducive environment for future-oriented capacity building of students and strengthening the synergy between educational institutions and industries.
We must also ensure increased participation of women in STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics courses.
At NIT, the Lt Governor also shared the transformation in the educational landscape of the country, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Today, our educational institutions are emerging as centers of cutting-edge learning programs. With the new opportunities being provided to our talented youth in diverse fields, we can truly dominate the global knowledge economy in the future, he said.
The state-of-the-art hostel inaugurated today is a major step towards providing residential facilities to the girl students in the Campus.

*BSF Trooper from Kupwara Dies After Boat 'Capsizes' in West Bengal*

Srinagar, Feb 23 (GNS): A Border Security Forces' trooper was left dead after a boat he was in, 'capsized', during heavy winds in Kolkata of West Bengal state, a colleague of the deceased trooper said on Friday.
He told GNS that one Reyaz Ahmad Rather, part of boat patrolling, was caught in heavy winds yesterday. "The boat he was in capsized and subsequently Reyaz drowned into the river", he said adding, "Soon after a rescue operation was launched at the site which ended with the recovery of the body of the drowned trooper this morning."
The body of the deceased trooper, as learnt, is on way to his native village Gund Mancher in Lolab of Kupwara district for final rites. (GNS)
