Today's herb is cumin seeds which we widely use at home.

Cumin seed is used as a spice for its distinctive flavour and aroma. It is globally popular and an essential flavouring in many cuisines, particularly South Asian (where it is called jeera[citation needed]), Northern African, and Latin American cuisines. Cumin can be found in some cheeses, such as Leyden cheese, and in some traditional breads from France. It is commonly used in traditional Brazilian cuisine. Cumin can be an ingredient in chili powder (often Tex-Mex or Mexican-style), and is found in achiote blends, adobos, sofrito, garam masala, curry powder, and bahaarat. In Myanmar, cumin is used as a spice. In South Asian cooking, it is often combined with coriander seeds in a powdered mixture called dhana jeera.

Cumin can be used ground or as whole seeds. It helps to add an earthy and warming feeling to food, making it a staple in certain stews and soups, as well as spiced gravies such as chili. It is also used as an ingredient in some pickles and pastries.[14]

In Sanskrit, cumin is known as jira “that which helps digestion" and is called zira in Persian. In the Ayurvedic system, dried cumin seeds are believed to have medicinal purposes. These seeds are powdered and used in different forms like kashaya (decoction), arishta (fermented decoction), vati (tablet/pills), and processed with ghee (a semifluid clarified butter). It is used internally and sometimes for external applications also.

Cholesterol is finally officially removed from Naughty List

The US government has finally accepted that cholesterol is not a 'nutrient of concern', doing a U-turn on their warnings to us to stay away from high-cholesterol foods since the 1970s to avoid heart disease and clogged arteries.

This means eggs, butter, full-fat dairy products, nuts, coconut oil and meat have now been classified as "safe" and have been officially removed from the "nutrients of concern" list.

The US Department of Agriculture, which is responsible for updating the guidelines every five years, stated in its findings for 2015: "Previously, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommended that cholesterol intake be limited to no more than 300 mg/day.

"The 2015 DGAC will not bring forward this recommendation because available evidence shows no appreciable relationship between consumption of dietary cholesterol and serum (blood) cholesterol, consistent with the AHA/ACC (American Heart Association / American College of Cardiology)

The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee will, in response, no longer warn people against eating high-cholesterol foods and will instead focus on sugar as the main substance of dietary concern.


US cardiologist Dr Steven Nissen said: "It's the right decision. We got the dietary guidelines wrong. They've been wrong for decades."

"When we eat more foods rich in this compound, our bodies make less. If we deprive ourselves of foods high in cholesterol - such as eggs, butter, and liver - our body revs up .

Take this mixture twice a day and continue for one week.
Kalonji oil for Stomach pain: Kalonji oil plays an important role in minimizing the impact of stomach pain. To relieve from stomach pain, it is suggested to take the mixture Kalonji oil (½ tsp), little amount of black salt, and warm water (½ glass). Drink the mixture twice or thrice for better result. Chest irritation and stomach trouble can be solved by taking the mix of Kalonji oil (½ tsp) along with a cup of milk. This mixture should be taken twice a day and continue it for one week.
Kalonji oil for low hearing: Kalonji oil is extremely beneficial in solve the problem
of hearing. First of all, heat the kalonji oil for few minutes thereby makes it cool. Now, pour two drops of kalonji oil into the ear to solve the problem of low hearing, pus flow from ear, ear ache and other ear diseases.
Kalonji oil for Cracked foot: Make a mixture of sweet lime juice (1 glass) and Kalonji oil (½ tsp). Apply this mixture twice a day in the morning as well as before going to bed to have a good result. It is beneficial to solve the problem of cracked hand and cracked foot.
Kalonji oil for Vomiting: Boil the mixture of coriander (1 tsp) and Kalonji oil (½ tsp). When gets cool, use mint leaves before taking. Take the ingredients thrice a day to solve the problem of nausea or vomiting.
Kalonji oil for Tumor solution: Kalonji oil should be applied on the affected part to minimize the severity of tumor. It is also suggested to drink ½ tsp once in a day. The swelling of the body parts can also be treated by applying kaloni oil over it.
