Our life experiences, our psychological behaviour, our daily habits, the food we eat - all of this is constantly being assessed by the genes and then epigenes are turned on and off based on what is happening.

Each human experience is different - but certain experiences correlate with diseases.

A recent psychological assessment found out that children growing up in a loud and abusive household are more susceptible to autoimmune diseases. And even in my practice, I've found several cases of autoimmunity, who come from disturbed childhoods.

So everything in our life is connected. Our health is not a separate entity. We are who we are because of the life we live. So live a good life.

Last but not the least - Carbs

Often portrayed as the villain responsible for weight gain, carbs are actually some of the most easily available sources of energy.

While yes, Indian diet has disproportionaty high carb intake, if you can balance it with fibre rich vegetables and pulses, there is no food as complete as a simple homemade food.

In a world where we are constantly bombarded with additives, refined sugar, trans fats and cheap oils, it's important to be wise about what we eat.

Always read the labels of the foods you are buying, if it's maida, palm oil and sugar in the first 3, it's best to avoid that as it does not good for the body except provide 2 minutes of pleasure.
