“Massa” is not a diagnosis.

What looks like a simple skin tag could actually be a mole, wart, birthmark, or another type of skin growth. And while tying a thread around a small skin tag may make it dry up and fall off, the same technique isn’t appropriate for every growth.

A mole should be assessed before removal, while a wart is caused by a virus and can potentially spread when repeatedly traumatised.

So don’t start with, “How do I remove this?”

Start with, “What exactly is this?”

Once the growth is identified, a dermatologist can decide whether it needs removal, monitoring, or further examination, and which method is safest.

Wanting a safer skincare routine is completely valid. But “natural” doesn’t automatically mean safe, and “chemical” doesn’t automatically mean harmful.

Lemon juice, essential oils, DIY scrubs and undiluted plant extracts can irritate your skin, worsen pigmentation, or damage your skin barrier, especially when used without knowing what your skin actually needs.

Instead of experimenting with DIY treatments, get your skin concern assessed properly. A dermatologist can help you understand what your skin needs, which ingredients are appropriate, and what you should avoid.

Your skin doesn’t need the most “natural” solution. It needs the right solution for your skin.

Book a consultation with Dr. Nidhi to get a personalised skincare plan instead of trying another DIY remedy.

Laser hair removal works best when it’s done correctly, not just quickly.

Do:
• Get your skin and hair type assessed before starting
• Follow the recommended session intervals
• Shave before treatment instead of waxing or plucking
• Follow the aftercare instructions carefully
• Use sun protection and avoid tanning around treatment

Avoid:
• Waxing or plucking between sessions
• Getting treated on recently tanned or sunburnt skin
• Choosing a laser clinic based only on the lowest price
• Assuming one laser or setting works for every skin type
• Expecting permanent hair removal after one session

The goal isn’t simply less hair. It’s effective hair reduction with the right technology, settings, and protocol for your skin.

Your skin isn’t just one layer.

When we talk about skincare, injections, lasers or other aesthetic treatments, understanding which layer we’re actually targeting makes a huge difference.

Think of the skin as a layered structure:

1. Epidermis — the outer barrier
This is the protective surface of your body. It contains keratinocytes, melanocytes and immune cells, and helps prevent water loss and protect against the environment.

2. Dermis — the support layer
This is where collagen, elastin, blood vessels, nerves, hair follicles and glands are found. It gives skin much of its strength, thickness and elasticity.

3. Subcutaneous fat — the cushioning layer
Below the dermis is the fatty tissue that provides cushioning, insulation and energy storage. Its thickness varies dramatically across different parts of the body.

4. Superficial fascia — the connective tissue network
This tissue helps organize fat, blood vessels and nerves and connects the superficial tissues with deeper structures.

5. Deep fascia — the structural plane
This is a stronger connective-tissue layer that surrounds and separates deeper structures, particularly muscles.

6. Muscle — the deeper functional layer
Where present, skeletal muscle lies beneath the deeper fascial planes and is responsible for movement.

So, from superficial to deep, you can broadly visualize it as:

Epidermis → Dermis → Subcutaneous fat → Fascia → Muscle

But here’s the important part:

The skin technically consists of only the epidermis and dermis. The subcutaneous tissue lies underneath the skin.

And these layers aren’t just anatomy textbook knowledge.

Different treatments work at different depths. Microneedling, lasers, fillers, botulinum toxin and surgical procedures all interact with different anatomical structures.

Understanding the layer you’re treating is just as important as understanding the treatment itself.

A skincare product going viral doesn’t mean it’s right for your skin.

Your skin type, sensitivity, existing concerns, and even the other products in your routine can change how your skin responds.

So before copying an influencer’s entire routine, ask yourself: Do I actually need these products?

Good reviews can tell you a product is popular. They can’t tell you whether it’s right for your skin.

Not every flake is dandruff.

A quick way to think about it:

Dry scalp
• Flakes are usually fine, dry and powdery
• Scalp may feel tight or dry
• Often worse with harsh shampoos or over-washing

Dandruff / seborrheic dermatitis
• Flakes can look yellowish, sticky or oily
• Itching is common
• Scalp may feel irritated or inflamed
• Often gets worse with excess oil and humidity

And here’s where people often make the mistake: they start oiling a scalp that actually has dandruff because they assume the flakes mean the scalp is “dry.”

That can make the problem worse.

The important thing isn’t just how much you’re flaking. It’s what the flakes look and feel like, and what your scalp is doing underneath them.

If your dandruff keeps coming back despite regular shampooing, you may need the right diagnosis and an antifungal treatment rather than more oil.
