Henna Sugandh

Here are some Mixing tips that we have observed work wonders.

Tip 1. Apply henna on clear skin, wiping with essential oil dipped cotton makes it perfect for henna application. It ensures clearing of pores and also makes the henna absorb the highest.

Tip 2. Paste mixed with Lemon takes more time for dye release, but stays longer and darker on skin.

Tip 3. Lighter Essential oils like Lavender, again take more time for dye release, but stays longer.

Tip 4. Lawsone is present in the henna leaves, not oil. Meaning, if your henna powder is not capable enough, no oil in the world can get the stain from it. Terpenes in the essential oils give a boost to the already present Lawsone in the henna. More terpenes= more heat boost, too much terpenes= skin irritation.

Tip 5. Don't dry the henna very quickly with the dryer as most rush henna artists do. That's a compromise with the stain. It leaves the Lawsone into your skin most when it's moist.

Tip 6. Use pain relief balm or Vicks on the stain, most effective in the night. It gives most benefit in terms of stain development.

Tip 7. Use more sugar if your designs are very fine, fine designs dry faster and flake out. That does not allow them enough time to leave stain so that's usually very light.

Tip 8. Essential oils and Sugar both are mostly used in the same proportion. Like, 100g Henna needs 30ml essential oil as well as 30g sugar. This proportion is mostly 1/3rd of henna used.

Tip 9. Some artists prefer more sugar and that is because of the climate they are in, more dry locations will need more sugar and that's because sugar keeps the paste moist for grips the henna on skin and both of these things are a factor in the quality of stain.

Tip 10. Do not under estimate sugar sealant. That's very old hack. Even if your henna paste has sugar, using some sugar and lemon juice sealant works wonders for stain. It keeps it intact and also doesnot let it dry very quickly. Essential oils in the henna evaporate very fast making it dry, the sealant works like magic.

Henna is naturally harvested only once a year,
Some farms harvest henna multiple times but the quality required for Body Art is only available with this harvest which is done 45-60 days post rainfall. The harvest has just begun and best quality for highest lawsone has yet not arrived. This quality that we hunt for comes late and also auctioned at highest prices. This is the prime reason many suppliers sell their cheap henna and buyers sometimes fall in confusion and they get attracted to the price. Well, after the harvest is done, it takes time to sundry and do other separation processes. Stay tuned to get all details. We will begin to sell new crop by November end. Currently selling only the last batch in the first picture which arrived. One more successful year for us. We are not hunting for clients, we seek relationships. The practice book is incredible. It has 10 pages and all the designs inside are usefull and the book is reusable any number of times. Practice and scrap off and redo. Great!

Step 1- Mix
100g Sugandh Mehndi Luxury Henna Powder
30ml Sugandh Mehndi Bridal Blend Essential Oil (Other oils can also be used)
35-40g Sugar(30g in humid climate)
Juice of 1 Full size Lemon

Mix and keep adding water slowly for consistency of mashed potatoes.

Step 2-
Keep it covered properly for dye release for 12-15hrs. Depending on the temprature. 15hr enough for 20-25 degrees. It may need more time in very cold temp or less time in hot temp.

Step 3-
Check with a stain test for 5 mins or simply mix the paste well with own hands. It must give a bright orage color.
Add water for desired consistency. Too much water will make it Runny, less water will make it uneasy to draw designs. The paste must easily flow but also stay. And mix well preferably with a electric be**er to get rid of all the lumps

Step 4- Strain with a Stocking into a piping bag. This is optional if you are using a fine quality henna powder, but it removes lumps if any are left. From the piping bag, now cones can be made.

Step 5-
Apply on clean skin. Protect with Mefix if possible. Leave the paste on skin for atleast 4-5hrs (overnight suggested for intese dark stain)

Step 6-
Scrap off with a butter knife or something blunt. You can use coconut oil to scrap off. DONOT WASH AWAY.

Step 7- AFTERCARE IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR BEST RESULTS

Avoid Water and soap for 24hrs as much as possible. For this stain, water was avoided completely for the first day and to some extent also for the second day.

Use Coconut oil or Aftercare Balms, pain relief balms works best. If the stain gets desired heat, it will develop more and more and Balms do that.

The Stain develops to full maturity till 48hr, which is the second day after removing from skin.
