I don’t always post about our kids’ birthdays, but I want to honor our first-born today.

Micah, you are so loved. You are deeply loved by Dad and I, but also by your grandparents, extended family and all your friends. And above all, by God, who delights in you and has great plans for you.

You are a naturally born leader. You have a BIG heart. You make everyone laugh. Everyone we know is always telling us how much they love you and enjoy your presence.

You are smart, quick-witted, and have great passions.

We are so honored to be your parents. You are a great joy to us. We are so thankful that God gave you to us.

I don’t quite know how we got to this birthday - 16! It is a milestone for us all and we are so happy to celebrate you today!

I saw this guy while I was in my family’s hometown of Torricella Peligna. I had to snap a picture. His balcony overlooks the one main street in town. Clearly, he doesn’t this all the time. He wants to people watch so he brings a little pillow out for his arms to rest on over the balcony railing. He is going to be there a while and he wants to be comfortable.

Our marriage is an adult today!

Happy 18 years to us.

When we first moved here I was very conscious of trying not to stick out. I really wanted to blend in as best I could. I’m not sure why but that’s how I felt. Now, I couldn’t care less. I wear Buc-ee’s Christmas t-shirt regularly in July or any time of year. Why not? It’s clean and I don’t want to waste a t-shirt I might want to wear to dinner just to errands. I’m actually a real sight because I was also wearing greenish shorts and red running shoes so I actually looked like I tried to keep the color palate in tact. 🤷‍♂️ After all, red, white, and green are the colors of the Italian flag.

For the record, I had no idea that there was a song called “Christmas in July.” That was a nice surprise.

We invited our American friends over for the 4th and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

From swimming, to eating, to USA trivia and singing the national anthem with our 250 years cake!

It was the best time!

We even included our airbnb guests for an unforgettable 4th of July in Italy!
