Now that we have your attention, we’d like to take a minute to educate you on the differences between getting your child’s ears pierced at Claire’s or getting them pierced at a professional studio.

On the left is your typical Claire’s, Walmart, Mall kiosk piercing jewelry and on the right is a hollow point needle that we use for all piercings.

The left is used with a piercing gun and forced through the skin. While the earring back does come to a point, it isn’t “sharp” and it breaks the skin. This causes unwanted and unnecessary inflammation and pain, and can prolong the healing process.

The right uses a minimal amount of force to pierce the skin. The needles we use are extremely sharp and make a clean cut, pushing aside a section of skin to form a nice pocket for the Jewelry to sit in, resulting in less inflammation and pain! With the needle making a clean cut, it’s less traumatic to the lobe resulting in less complications and a faster healing time.

The staff at Claire’s, Walmart, kiosks, etc. typically watch a quick tutorial on how to pierce lobes. They reuse their gun and wipe it down with an alcohol swab between uses. Alcohol alone isn’t enough to sterilize the gun and remove all contaminants. They then load pre-packaged cartridges containing the earrings into the gun for each client.

Here we use single use sterilized needles, set up a sterile field, sterilize all jewelry and tools used in an autoclave, and clean all surfaces between clients with a medical grade cleanser/germicidal solution (It literally kills EVERYTHING), and our piercers have a minimum of a 1 year apprenticeship followed by years of experience.
