8.30 am came into the ward for handover/ prep patients notes. Whilst prepping the notes it was important to write down the patient’s observations, any recent blood tests results and investigations and any important findings.⠀
⠀
9.00 am ward round with the consultant begins - we would go to the patients bedside, ask them how they are feeling, examine them if needed and come up with a management plan for that patient. ⠀

11.45 MDT meeting- here is where we updated the other part of the team about our patients in ward rounds, discuss their plan and come up with a possible estimate of their discharge date! The nurse in charge and floor coordinators were a fundamental part of this meeting! They are the ones who usually know if their are beds available to move patients to other wards and ensure a smooth patient journey!!!⠀

12.30 pm we begin our jobs!!! Any bloods, ABGs, CXR forms, discuss any CT investigations with the duty radiologist or follow up any other form of investigations / referrals i.e. IP Echo’s, any other referrals to other speciality like neuro, gastro, frail team or palliative team. ⠀
⠀
2.30 pm LUNCH 🥗 ⠀
⠀
3.00 pm check if the results for any investigations are back, if needed I would consult the SpR with any abnormalities that needed to be sorted. I would also use the opportunity to check in on my patients- really to make sure they are still ALIVE 😂😂⠀

5.00 pm HOME TIME- if there was anything to be handed over I would call the evening duty SpR and make them aware of the patient and what is outstanding!!!⠀
