After so many people insisting for Andrea to teach his profession he finally decided to organize professional courses in different formula, from just a few hours masterclasses to weeks lenght full-immersion lessons where to learn the techniques of professional Sculpting, Drawing, Mould making, Prop making, Statue/masks/props hyper-realistic painting and Prosthetic make-up fx for the film industry. ANDREA LEANZA, A lover since his childhood in dinosaurs, natural sciences, creatures, films and special makeup fx, begins his experiences as a joke, when he was only twelve years old, discovering his true vocation. Almost completely self-taught, strongly inspired by the stories of masters such as Dick Smith and Rick Baker, during the years he deepened his knowledge in the techniques of life-casting, sculpting and texturing, mould making, applying and painting prosthetic appliances. Since then, he is constantly working to improve himself by learning and experiencing more and more advanced techniques and materials creating special make-up fx for commercials, sit-coms, short and feature films. Following one of his greatest model of inspiration “Stan Winston” he soon gets known for his hyper-realistic Dinosaurs models and in 2006 he becomes the artistic supervisor of Mauro Scaggiante's GEOMODEL creating prehistoric animals reconstruction in full-scale for museums, exhibitions and theme parks. His biggest sculpture, a 16mt long Spinosaurus, got the National Geographic cover on October 2014 issue. From 2007 to 2011 was responsible for the transformations of actors Francesco Mandelli and Fabrizio Biggio on the first 3 seasons of the tv series "I soliti idioti" aired on MTV Italy (italian version of "Little Britain"). In 2011 he starts his real career in the international film industry getting hired from 2 times Oscar winner Mark Coulier (The Iron Lady, The Gran Budapest Hotel) to create the zombies for Marc Forster’s "World War Z" starring and produced by Brad Pitt, and after that decides to move to London. In 2014 he works with Makinarium FX team as Creature Co-Supervisor for Matteo Garrone's “Tale of Tales” (starring Vincent Cassel, Salma Hayek, Toby Jones, John C. Reilly) selected at 2015 Cannes Film Festival and winner of 7 Davide di Donatello awards included Best Make-up and Best VFX, and later in South Africa with Cosmesis FX crew as key prosthetic makeup artist on Sean Penn's “The Last Face” (starring Charlize Theron, Javier Bardem, Jean Reno and Jared Harris). In 2015 works as key prosthetic artist on Timur Bekmambetov’s “Ben Hur” (Morgan Freeman, Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell, Rodrigo Santoro), then as HOD Makeup/prosthetics designer for Marco Segato’s “La pelle dell’Orso”, with Italian actor Marco Paolini (Jolefilm), and later on as key artist for 4 months in South Africa on Paul W. Anderson’s "Resident Evil - the final chapter" again with Cosmesis team on the creation of the zombie’s makeup and in addition he’s also been assigned from makeup HoD Christina Smith (Shindler's list, Hook, Jurassic Park) to do Milla Jovovich’s old age makeup application created by the studio of Oscar winner Matthew Mungle (Coppola's Dracula, Albert Nobbs). He also joined the crew of some famous TV productions such as BBC's “Dr. Who”, “Merlin” and “Atlantis”, and Movie Productions such as Jeff Wadlow's “Kick-Ass II”, Gary Shore's “Dracula Untold” and Lennart Ruff's "The Titan". Andrea strongly believes in collaboration and sharing both at a human and working level and so, together with other friends and colleagues, he works trying to bring this kind of “countercurrent mentality” into the special makeup FX industry. He's member of the cultural association EffectUs which promotes the importance of the mutal exchange of knowledge and artistic skills at a national and international level, favouring a network focused on the growth of this artistic discipline.

ANDREA LEANZA, appassionato fin da piccolo di dinosauri, scienze naturali, creature, cinema ed effetti di trucco speciale comincia la sua esperienza per scherzo, quando aveva solo dodici anni, scoprendo così la sua vera vocazione. Quasi completamente autodidatta, fortemente ispirato dalle storie di maestri quali Dick Smith e Rick Baker, negli anni approfondisce le sue conoscenze nelle tecniche di life-casting e di modellatura, realizzazione, applicazione e colorazione di protesi iper-realistiche. Da sempre lavora costantemente per migliorarsi apprendendo e sperimentando tecniche e materiali all'avanguardia, iniziando così a farsi strada nel campo televisivo e cinematografico italiano, realizzando effetti di trucco speciale per pubblicità, sit-com, corto e lungometraggi. Seguendo l'esempio di uno dei suoi più grandi modelli di ispirazione “Stan Winston”, diventa presto conosciuto per i suoi modelli di Dinosauri iper-realistici e dal 2006 collabora con la Geomodel di Mauro Scaggiante per la supervisione artistica e la creazione di modelli di animali preistorici in dimensioni reali per musei, esposizioni didattico-scientifiche e parchi a tema. La sua più grande scultura, uno Spinosauro lungo 16mt, ha ottenuto la copertina del National Geographic del numero di ottobre 2014. Dal 2007 al 2011 ha curato insieme al collega Roberto Mestroni le trasformazioni degli attori Francesco Mandelli e Fabrizio Biggio per le prime 3 stagioni televisive de “I soliti idioti” in onda su Mtv Italia. Dal 2011 ha inizio la sua vera carriera nel mondo dell' industria cinematografica a livello internazionale quando viene ingaggiato dal 2 volte premio Oscar Mark Coulier (The Iron Lady, Gran Budapest Hotel) per la creazione degli zombie del film di Marc Forster "World War Z" prodotto da e con Brad Pitt, in seguito decide quindi di trasferirsi a Londra. Nel 2014 ha lavora per conto di Makinarium come Co-Supervisore delle Creature per il film di Matteo Garrone “Il Racconto dei Racconti” (con Vincent Cassel, Salma Hayek, Toby Jones e John C. Reilly) selezionato al Festival di Cannes 2015 e vincitore di 7 David di Donatello 2016 tra cui miglior trucco e migliori VFX, ed in seguito si unisce al team della compagnia sudafricana Cosmesis come key prosthetic makeup artist sul film “The Last Face” di Sean Penn, con artisti del calibro di Charlize Theron, Javier Bardem, Jean Reno e Jared Harris. Nel 2015 lavora come key prosthetic artist sul remake di “Ben Hur” di Timur Bekmambetov, successivamente come Capo reparto trucco e protesi su “La pelle dell’orso” di Marco Segato con Marco Paolini (Jolefilm), ed infine torna in Sud Africa come key artist per 4 mesi sul film "Resident Evil - the final chapter" di Paul W. Anderson dove oltre ad occuparsi della realizzazione degli zombie per conto della compagnia sudafricana Cosmesis viene designato dalla capo trucco Christina Smith (Shindler's list, Hook, Jurassic Park) per l’applicazione dell' invecchiamento di Milla Jovovich, protesi realizzate dallo studio del premio Oscar Matthew Mungle (Coppola's Dracula, Shindler's list, Albert Nobbs). Ha inoltre negli anni partecipato ad alcune famose produzioni TV quali BBC's “Dr. Who”, “Merlin” e “Atlantis”, e produzioni cinematografiche quali “Kick-Ass II” di Jeff Wadlow, “Dracula Untold” di Gary Shore e "The Titan" di Lennart Ruff. Andrea crede fortemente nella condivisione e nella collaborazione sia a livello umano che lavorativo e si batte insieme ad altri amici e colleghi per cercare di portare questo tipo di mentalità “controcorrente” nell'industria degli effetti speciali di trucco cinematografico. E' membro dell' associazione culturale EffectUs che si propone lo sviluppo dell’arte degli Special Makeup Effects in tutte le sue sfaccettature per professionisti ed appassionati: scultura, calchi, prostetica, make up, maschere, animatronica, puppets, face e body painting in ambito televisivo, cinematografico, teatrale ed amatoriale. L'associazione promuove l’importanza dello scambio reciproco di conoscenza e saperi artistici a livello nazionale ed internazionale, favorendo il networking volto alla crescita di questa disciplina artistica.
