Kenya's public debt has reportedly reached Ksh 12.8 trillion, and 71% of every shilling the government collects now goes to repaying loans. That leaves only 29% to run the country, fund hospitals, schools, security, roads, and other essential services. The result is a government with very limited room to invest in your future while still meeting its financial obligations.

The harsh truth is this, when a nation spends more on yesterday's debts than on today's development, it is ordinary citizens who pay the price. You may not hold public office, but you will feel it through higher taxes, a rising cost of living, fewer job opportunities, slower economic growth, and increasing pressure on public services. If this trend continues without stronger economic growth and prudent fiscal management, future generations will inherit not only the debt but also the responsibility of paying for it.
