For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

nĩ we ũheaga andũ aaku ũhootani.
Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.

Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.

But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

Jeremia 17:9-11
[9]“Nũũ ũngĩhota kũmenya ngoro ya mũndũ?Gũtirĩ kĩndũ kĩheenanagia ta yo;
nĩ njũru o biũ!
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
[10]Niĩ, MWATHANI nĩ niĩ nduĩragia meciiria ma andũ,
na ngageria ngoro ciao
nĩguo njĩke o mũndũ kũringana na mĩthiĩre yake,
na kũringana na ciĩko ciake.”
I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

ahaana ngware iria ikomagĩrĩria matumbĩ itarekeetie.Rĩrĩa aikarĩĩte egangarĩĩte-rĩ,
nĩguo ũtonga ũcio wake ũmũũraga,
marigĩrĩrioinĩ agakĩonekana arĩ o kĩrimũ.
As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.

1 Athamaki 8:18-19

And the LORD said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an house unto my name, thou didst well that it was in thine heart.

[10]Gũtinda mũthenya ũmwe Hekaarũinĩ yaku
nĩ kwega gũkĩra gũikara handũ hangĩ o hoothe mĩthenya ngiri.Nĩ kaba ndũũgame kĩhingoinĩ kĩa nyũmba ya Ngai
handũ ha gũtũũra mĩciĩ ya andũ arĩa aaganu.
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
[11]Nĩ gũkorwo MWATHANI nĩ we ũtũmenyagĩrĩra
na agatũthamakagĩra arĩ na riiri,
agĩtwĩkaga wega na agĩtũtĩĩithagia.Ndarĩ ũndũ o na ũmwe mwega aimaga arĩa maikaraga magĩĩkaga wega.
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
[12]MWATHANI Ngai Mwene Hinya Wothe,
kũraathimwo-rĩ, nĩ arĩa maikaraga makwĩhokeete!
O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

[2]Ngũkayagĩra mũthenya, Ngai wakwa, na ndũngĩnjĩtĩka;
ũtukũ ngayaga, na ndingĩona wa kũndeithia.
O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
[3]No rĩĩrĩ, wee ũtũire ũikarĩire gĩtĩ kĩa ũnene,
o wee ũgoocagwo nĩ Isiraeli, wĩ mũtheru.
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
[4]Wee nĩ we maithe maitũ meehokaga;
maakwĩhokire, nawe ũkĩmahonokia.
Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
[5]Nĩ we maakayagĩra, nawe ũkĩmathara kuuma moogwatiinĩ;
no we meehokaga, nawe ndũigana kũmaconorithia.
They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

[1]MWATHANI, niĩ ndirĩ mwĩtĩi na ndiĩgaathaga.
Ndirũmbũyanagia na maũndũ manene
kana marĩa itangĩhota gwĩka.
(A Song of degrees of David.) LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.
[2]Niĩ-rĩ, nĩndĩrutĩĩte kũiganĩra na gũikaraga hooreire
o ta ũrĩa kaana gaikaraga kahooreire gakĩonga;
ũguo noguo njiganĩire ngoroinĩ yakwa.
Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.
