Let's talk about hair care. As a high porosity hair girly, my hair easily looses moisture, and so, it takes intentionality to lock the moisture in. That's where the LCO (Liquid, Cream, Oil) method comes in. This method has been used for years, but adapting it into my routine has been a game changer. It leaves my hair very soft and moisturised for a long time.

I get this question a lot: What do you do to make your hair grow long?

Well, short answer: I leave it unbothered for a long time (3 months) that way I'm able to retain length.

Ps: This is just one among a few things I do, but of course it's the main reason my hair is long

SHRINKAGE!! 😌

Shrinkage gets such a bad reputation, but honestly? It’s one of the quiet superpowers of natural type 4 hair. ✨

When my hair shrinks, it’s not “misbehaving” — it’s doing exactly what healthy hair is supposed to do. Shrinkage is proof that my curls and coils are hydrated, elastic, and full of life. Every bend, twist, and spring-back is my hair saying, “I’m good over here.”

Shrinkage also means versatility. One head of hair, so many moods. Today it’s a fluffy, shrunken fro. Tomorrow it’s stretched and dramatic. The next day it’s tucked, twisted, or braided. My hair gets to shape-shift without losing its personality — and that’s a kind of freedom I’ll always love.

So yes, my type 4 hair shrinks — and I’m okay with that. Because shrinkage isn’t the enemy; it’s the evidence. Evidence of healthy hair, strong coils, and texture that’s thriving exactly as it’s meant to. 💛🌿
