Restoration season
Psalm 126
1 When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. 2 Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.” 3 The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. 4 Restore our fortunes, Lord, like streams in the Negev. 5 Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. 6 Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
Are you on the verge of giving up? Feeling like hope is slipping through your fingers? Psalm 126 reminds us that God is a restorer. Just as He restored the fortunes of Zion, filling their hearts with laughter and their tongues with joy, He can bring beauty and renewal to the broken places in our lives too.
Verse 5 says, “Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.” Your tears are seeds of faith that God will use to bring about a season of joy. Though your heart may feel heavy now, trust that God has a harvest of peace and laughter waiting. Keep pressing forward, knowing that His promises hold true. You are not alone, and a day will come when you will look back, carrying the blessings of His faithfulness with a joyful heart. Do not give up.

I serve in the Leadership Equipping Centre (LEC) in my church, CITAM Parklands, where our primary goal is to organize and oversee the training of leaders and ministry workers. Last Sunday was a particularly special day as we celebrated a graduation ceremony where 101 leaders were commissioned into service. It was an honour to have Prof. Laban Ayiro as our guest of honour, adding depth and wisdom to the occasion.
I am truly blessed to be part of such an incredible team, led by Dr. Christiaan Adenya, whose leadership has been invaluable throughout this journey. By God’s grace, we successfully completed 20 sessions of training, equipping these leaders for effective ministry. The LEC team also held two other key meetings, one before the training and one after to ensure everything went smoothly.
I am confident that our graduates are now prepared to serve within the church but also in their workplaces, communities, and other spheres of influence. We trust God to guide and empower them as they step into their roles, impacting the world for His glory.

"The stronger the roots, the more resilient the growth"
Writing a book is a journey that requires determination, discipline, and dedication. These invisible threads weave together, shaping the process from the first spark of an idea to the final polished manuscript.
Determination is the driving force that propels you forward when the road feels long and uncertain. It keeps you committed to your vision even when self doubt creeps in or the words don't flow as effortlessly as you'd like. Every writer faces moments where they question the value of their story or whether they'll ever complete the project. But determination acts like a beacon in the dark, reminding you why you started and pushing you to keep going.
Discipline is the structure that transforms dreams into reality. Writing a book requires more than inspiration; it demands a routine, a consistent practice that helps you build momentum. Discipline is what gets you to your desk, even on days when the motivation isn’t there. It's about carving out time from your busy life, sticking to word counts, and setting achievable goals that bring you closer to completion. Like training for a marathon, writing requires consistent effort and persistence, day after day.
Finally, dedication is the love for the craft and the unwavering commitment to your story. Dedication is what fuels the long hours of research, the countless revisions, and the emotional investment that writing a book entails. It’s what keeps you connected to the heart of your story, ensuring that you give it your best effort from start to finish. Dedication ensures that no matter how difficult or frustrating the process becomes, you remain true to your purpose and finish strong.

I am currently reading an interesting book called A Radical Awakening: Turning Pain into Purpose by Dr. Shefali. Life has a way of throwing challenges at us, and sometimes, it’s those painful moments that wake us up. They force us to see things differently, to grow, and to realize that we’re much stronger than we ever imagined. Pain can feel overwhelming, but it often leads to a deeper sense of purpose and transformation.
It’s really got me reflecting on my own journey of radical awakening. I knew I was losing myself the moment I missed my exit on my way to work one day. Instead of a quick correction, I drove for about 2 kilometres before even realizing how far I had gone. My mind was foggy, consumed with endless thoughts that had left me running on autopilot. Life had pushed me to my limits.
I was exhausted, running on fumes, and this moment was a wake-up call. I felt disoriented, barely present, and utterly drained. Though I eventually found a turn and got back on track, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was losing control not just of the road, but of myself.
I reached out to two friends, explaining what had happened, and asked them to check on me daily for the next three months. With their support and the help of a therapist, I slowly picked up the pieces. The storm calmed, the fire lost its intensity, and eventually, the winds lost their force. Bit by bit, I found myself again.
How did you experience your own radical awakening, and what was the key moment that sparked it?

From the Pit to the Palace: Embracing God's Process for Purpose
Genesis 50:20, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."
There are moments in life when everything seems to go wrong, and you might feel like giving up is the only option. But before you do, take a moment to reflect on the story of Joseph from the Bible. His life was full of pain, rejection, and false accusations, yet it was all part of a much bigger plan that God had in store for him. Joseph's journey reminds us that no matter how difficult life gets, we should never give up, because often, our trials are shaping us for something greater.
Joseph’s story begins with a dream. As a young boy, he had a vision of his future, one in which he saw himself in a position of leadership. Naturally, this caused jealousy among his brothers. Their insecurity and bitterness led them to do the unthinkable: they sold Joseph into slavery. Imagine being betrayed by your own family. The pain of rejection and abandonment must have been unbearable. But even in those dark moments, God was with him.
What Joseph went through was about God refining his character, teaching him resilience, and preparing him for the role he was destined to play. This part of his journey is a powerful reminder that even when life seems to be falling apart, God is still at work.
As a slave in Egypt, Joseph worked faithfully in Potiphar's house. Things seemed to be improving, but then another storm came. Potiphar’s wife falsely accused Joseph of attempting to r**e her, and he was thrown into prison. Now, Joseph was not only a slave but also an innocent man in prison, seemingly forgotten by the world.
It would have been easy for Joseph to give up at this point. After all, what more could go wrong? But even in prison, God was preparing him for something greater. In the darkness of his imprisonment, Joseph honed the gift that would eventually change his life—his ability to interpret dreams. Sometimes, when we’re stuck in difficult circumstances, it feels like our gifts are wasted. But in those quiet, hidden places, God is often refining those very gifts for His bigger plan.
The turning point in Joseph's life came when Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, had a troubling dream that no one could interpret. Thanks to an earlier interaction with a prison mate, Joseph was called out of prison to interpret Pharaoh’s dream. Not only did Joseph interpret the dream, but God also gave him the wisdom to offer a strategy to save Egypt from the coming famine.
When a great famine hit the world, Egypt became the only place where people could find food, thanks to Joseph’s wisdom. His brothers, the same ones who had betrayed him, were forced to come to Egypt for grain. This was the perfect opportunity for Joseph to seek revenge. But instead of giving in to bitterness, Joseph recognized God's hand in everything that had happened to him. He told his brothers in Genesis 50:20, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."
What made Joseph’s story so powerful was his ability to see God’s purpose in the midst of his pain. He didn’t allow the hardships he faced to make him bitter or vengeful. Instead, Joseph forgave his brothers, realizing that everything he had gone through was part of God's plan to save many lives.
Sometimes, the things that hurt us the most are the very things God uses to shape our character and prepare us for His greater purpose. If Joseph had given up in the pit, in slavery, or in prison, he never would have seen the fulfilment of God's plan for his life.
The story of Joseph echoes the truth found in Romans 8:28: "All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose." Even when life doesn’t make sense, we can trust that God is working behind the scenes, weaving our pain and struggles into a greater story of purpose. Remember, your greatest moments may come out of your toughest trials. Don't give up—God has a bigger plan for your life than you could ever imagine. He prepares a table for us before our enemies.
Prayer: Lord, help me to see what you are doing in my life, even when I don’t understand it. Give me the strength to persevere, and the faith to trust that all things are working together for my good. Amen.

Trying to conceive is an incredibly tough and emotional journey. I vividly recall the mix of anxious anticipation and excitement that filled me as I waited for my fertility window each cycle. That hope, however, would always be followed by two agonizing weeks, where I would wish and pray for my monthly period not to arrive. Yet, like clockwork, it would appear—quietly mocking me with its painful regularity.
On the rare occasion that my period was late, a flicker of hope would spark in me. I’d imagine myself in beautiful, flowing maternity dresses, dream of shopping for baby clothes, and allow a surge of excitement to rise as I headed to the pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test. Locking myself in the bathroom, I would pray desperately for a positive result. But time and time again, my hopes would spill onto the cold bathroom floor as the test showed negative.
What followed was a familiar ache: a sour taste in my mouth, a sadness that crept from my heart like a thick fog, filling the small space around me. A dark, painful lump would lodge in my throat, making it hard to swallow, and the only way to dislodge it was with a flood of tears and a silent, stifled cry.
No matter how many times I went through this, it never got easier. Each disappointment cut deeper than the last. The heartache became heavier, and yet I couldn’t bring myself to narrate the full weight of it. How could I possibly explain this heart-wrenching journey to every well-meaning person who asked why I hadn’t conceived yet? The pain was too raw, too personal, to talk about up so easily.
Yet it was that pain that transformed into purpose. I started journaling, pouring my heart onto the pages, and eventually published several books. If you're in a waiting season, remember don’t give up. Your story can lead to something beautiful.
What’s your story?

Are you being held captive by past pain, trauma , failed business or failure?. Do not give up.
You see, Maya Angelou was an American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist, widely recognized for her powerful voice on issues of race, identity, and the human experience. She faced a difficult early life marked by trauma, racism, and displacement. Despite these challenges, she rose to become one of the most influential writers and thinkers of the 20th century.
She is best known for her series of seven autobiographies, with I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (1969) being the most famous. This work recounts her childhood and early teenage years, exploring themes of identity, resilience, and the power of words. Through it, she shed light on the African American experience and provided inspiration to countless readers.
She wrote this autobiography in response to the abuse that she endured as a child. She used the metaphor of a caged bird to express that even though she had suffered abuse, she would survive by fighting back, just as the caged bird still sings even though it is broken.
The caged bird in the title represents Maya and others like her who feel trapped by their circumstances—whether due to trauma, racism, poverty or oppression. Despite the confinement, the bird still sings, symbolizing hope and the desire for freedom. This teaches us that even in the darkest moments, we can hold onto hope and strive for a better future.
Though Angelou faced significant trauma, she learnt to let go of anger and guilt. Her journey teaches us that forgiveness—both of others and of oneself—can be a powerful tool for healing. Heal and thrive.

Steve Jobs’ 2005 commencement speech at Stanford University is famous for its message on connecting the dots backward, perseverance, and embracing life’s challenges. One of the key stories he shared was about how being fired from Apple—the very company he co-founded—turned out to be a transformative event that led to his greatest creative successes. It was his pivotal point.
In 1985, Steve Jobs experienced a crushing moment when he lost control of the company he co-founded. After hiring John Sculley as CEO of Apple, a power struggle developed between the two over the company's direction. Jobs envisioned pushing forward with innovative products like the Macintosh, while Sculley and the board preferred a more conservative, financially focused approach. The conflict culminated in the board siding with Sculley, effectively forcing Jobs out of the company he had built.
Though devastating at the time, Jobs later described this experience as a pivotal moment in his life. After leaving Apple, he founded NeXT, a tech company that would develop cutting-edge technology, and acquired Pixar, transforming it into a world-leading animation studio. During this period, Jobs learned invaluable lessons about leadership, innovation, and perseverance.
Years later, in a remarkable twist, Apple bought NeXT in 1997, bringing Jobs back to the company that had ousted him. With the technology NeXT developed and Jobs’ renewed vision, he led Apple into a new era of success, introducing iconic products like the iMac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad. His story of losing Apple and then returning to lead it to greatness illustrates the very point he made in his "Connecting the Dots" speech: you can’t always see how the dots connect looking forward, but in hindsight, each experience—good or bad—plays a crucial role in shaping your future.
By trusting the journey, even during his darkest times, Jobs was able to turn a major setback into an extraordinary comeback, reinforcing the idea that every experience matters, even when it’s painful.
Lessons we can learn from Steve;
1. Failure as a Stepping Stone: Being ousted from Apple pushed Jobs to reinvent himself, with his ventures at NeXT and Pixar paving the way for his eventual return to Apple.
2. Passion Drives Success: His commitment to design and innovation remained unwavering, even through failure.
3. Connecting the Dots: Past experiences, even failures, can become the foundation for future success.
4. Resilience and Adaptability: Jobs' ability to move forward and innovate after setbacks shaped his lasting impact on technology.
Have you ever gone through a loss or a crushing moment?. What was your pivotal point?.

Are you facing your own "Red Sea" moments like financial hardship, personal loss, or any daunting situation?. Don't give up, move forward.
Exodus 14:10 As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord. 11 They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? 12 Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”
13 Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. 16 Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground.
When life feels overwhelming and you're stuck between obstacles, it's easy to feel like giving up, much like the Israelites when they were trapped between the Red Sea and the pursuing Egyptians. They were terrified and questioned their journey, wishing they had stayed in Egypt. But Moses, trusting in God’s plan, told them to stand firm and witness God's deliverance. Despite the red sea ahead, or the Egyptians behind you move forward.

The late Joe Ngige was the CEO of Unclaimed Property Assets Register (UPAR) Kenya. He was passionate about reconnecting people with their unclaimed assets. One of the most remarkable stories from his work involved a family in Karatina, Nyeri.
His research led him to a financial institution where he found unclaimed dividends that had been returned to the Post Office. He discovered that this family had unknowingly inherited valuable shares from a colonial farmer in Eldoret. The farmer, upon returning to England, had bequeathed his shares to one of his workers. However, after the worker’s death, his family moved back to Karatina, unaware of their inheritance. They lived in poverty for years.
Using this information, he traced the worker’s descendants through the local chief. The shares, which had remained forgotten for years, were finally recovered by the family. Their value , 12 million Kenyan shillings, drastically transformed the family’s financial situation.
Joe’s dedication improved the lives of many families and also showed how unclaimed assets can hold the key to generational wealth. Through his efforts, he has left an impact far beyond financial gain, connecting families with their rightful inheritance and restoring hope.
What’s your legacy? What drives you to get up every day and pursue your goals? Is it the fire in your belly pushing you to leave a lasting impact, or the desire to fulfil a greater purpose? Legacy is more than just what you leave behind—it’s the mark you make in the lives you touch, the dreams you chase, and the passion that fuels your journey. So, what’s your purpose? What difference will you make, and how will your story inspire others to follow their own?
