What an honor and privilege to get a chance to work with one of the best haircare companies in the world, Truly magical. Kenyan creative artist curated the art, design and print for the company and I got to do beautiful hair with assistance from the Oribe brand ambassador for their holiday collection.
Designed in warm, welcoming tones to express the
warm feelings Thandiwe experiences when having her

This isn't just a series
about fabric. It is about impact; about the undeniable
entanglement between what we make, and the world we
make it in.

A single hand cannot cover the sky.
African Proverb
The heartbeat of a nation's identity are the stories treasured by her people. These stories are retold - often from the lips of women - their voices standing as sentinels against
collective amnesia. With words, women become the
defenders of traditions, moments, and the remembrance of
a nation.

Where you sit when you are old shows where you stood in your youth. What an event this was for Safaricom Emerald launch. I had the opportunity to work with some of Kenyas greatest thespians and Amelina who hosted the event with so much charisma and sassisness despite the heavy rains. I went of an abstract look that represented safaricoms theme and the innovation behind their product.

SONS OF THE RIFT [PART 2]

Throughout African history, beadwork has consistently played an integral role in how different communities express their unique concepts of beauty and social heirarchy.

In a deliberate effort to expand the boundaries of historical representation, SONS OF THE RIFT emerges as part of an ongoing Afrofuturistic portrait series –reimagining young men as generals and decorated war heroes.

This series envisions the Great Rift Valley without borders and how a beadwork expressive tribe emerges from the engagement of different communities residing in this geological marvel, which spans from Eritrea to Mozambique.
