Bizarre Killings Occurred in My Hood

Last night, a source called informing me that a cop had shot dead his wife and had threatened to kill anyone else who came his way.

He added that there were children in the house.
That's when I acted.

Before I could filter through my contacts to call police, another source called informing me that a cop had shot dead his wife before turning gun on himself.

It was an approximately 10 mins walk from where I live. I decided to visit the scene as a neighbor and not as a journalist. I didn't carry my cameras with me.

I got to the scene and was greeted with a tense mood.

People stood in groups- women in their pyjamas while others with children on their backs murmuring in low tones.

I noted there were over 20 police officers.

Some were tucked silent in their land cruisers clenching onto their guns with occasional interruption by their walkie talkies.

I didn't care to greet them and walked into Page Apartments compound and found cops carrying away the bodies.

My colleagues later joined. They had just returned from covering President Uhuru at Mai Mahiu. I'm told Uhuru showed up at about 5pm. Well, he's the President.

We went to second floor where their house was flooded with blood.

There was no furniture in the house, not even an armchair. It was an ugly scene.

We later interviewed neighbors and a guard who all said the lady had moved in a fortnight ago and was in the process of settling.
That's how we all started.

The guard, a Luhya I judged from his pronunciation, made us burst into laughter as he explained how he, accompanied by the apartment caretaker scampered for safety on hearing gunshots.

We left for our individual abodes.

Came today morning and pictures of the deceased started flooding the social media....a young dark man and a beautiful brown lady.

I'm still in shock.
Susan Njeri Kinuthia is no more.
