As the team behind Amala Periods, we want to be transparent with all of you about the journey we've been on over the past 3 years. Operating a period-focused startup while living in a foreign country during a global pandemic has certainly come with its fair share of challenges.

🎢🚀 Tackling taboo topics around menstruation, learning how to turn ideas into reality, navigating business intricacies, dealing with increased customs taxes, and continuously working to attract new customers for our sustainable products - it's been a rollercoaster, to say the least.

🇰🇭❤️ Through it all, we've remained steadfast in our mission. Since first launching Amala as a side hustle in 2021, we're proud to have made a real impact on the menstruating community in Cambodia.

🩲🩸Not only have we been able to provide a hugely inclusive range of reusable, eco-friendly alternatives to disposable pads, but we've also educated hundreds of young Cambodians on embracing their cycles and having a better period experience. For this, we feel incredibly proud of ourselves.

🌟🙏 The support we've received from initiatives like WhereIdeasLaunch, WhyNotSustainable, Impact Hub Phnom Penh, and the Lafiya Innovator Grant has been instrumental in our growth and ability to spread our message further than we ever imagined possible, and for that, we are so grateful.

🎖️🇰🇭 Winning the Lafiya award and grant has allowed us to begin pursue our goal of locally manufacturing period underwear right here in Cambodia. While this project has come with more setbacks than we anticipated, we remain dedicated to seeing it through and can't wait to unveil a very special, unique product very soon.

🛍️💞 On 31st May 2024, we'll be placing one final order from our current suppliers in China at the end of this month, giving you a chance to stock up on your most beloved designs. Depending on demand, we may look into a pre-order service in the future as we shift our focus inward.

🎓🎁 The most rewarding part of our journey, however, has been our educational impact and ability to donate sustainable period products to those who need them most. This has inspired us to explore the idea of registering as an NGO, opening up new avenues to provide even greater access to sustainable period products and menstrual health education within the community.

🔺💪 While the road has certainly had its ups and downs, our passion for menstrual equity and destigmatizing periods in Cambodia and beyond remains stronger than ever. Our team is making some changes but our mission remains to ensure that everyone is .
