Let me take some time to reintroduce myself to you all.

I am Lex Asbury and I am a creative who uses mainly photography to make art, connections, and edify all I come in contact with. I have never been the best at socials, but I am enjoying branding myself a bit more.

I take mainly portraiture—lifestyle and bo***ir, food, conceptual work, and BTS/reference work for other artists. I am looking for others to collaborate and work with. Let’s connect and make something amazing together.

Reflecting upon my growth through the years as a creative and I can never thank everyone involved in every aspect enough. Here’s to the belief that I’ll be able to continue to keep creating content and uplifting people along the way for a long time to come.

During my university studies, I was tasked with the unique challenge of defining my personal brand. This included choosing a name for my business and deciding how I wanted to be perceived professionally and creatively. My foremost desire was to stay true to myself. Hence, I chose “Lex Asbury” as my brand name, a direct reflection of my identity. In this brand, every creative aspect – the styling, the vision, the direction, the connection – is a manifestation of my personal journey and ambitions.

The way I interact with my clients and the models in front of my camera is deeply influenced by my life experiences. There have been times when I struggled with self-perception, influenced by others’ treatment and my own self-view. Pivotal experiences, such as undergoing surgery, relocating to a different country, and embracing new challenges, were instrumental in helping me recognize my own worth.

This self-recognition has transformed the way I engage with and value everyone I work with, whether in photography or collaboration. My aim is to encourage and uplift others, as I have learned to do for myself. I am continually awed by the beauty and complexity of people, and the sheer wonder of our existence. It is this sense of awe and appreciation that I endeavor to capture in my work.

It‘s a bit extreme, I know. However, that‘s how I am, especially with something that I am passionate about. If I say I am going to do something, I‘m going to follow through to the best of my ability. I've come along way from being more passive about things to now being much more expressive and passionate outwardly.

That‘s how I‘ve been with almost everything in my life, through lots of growth. I took the plunge to move abroad. I chose to not give up on getting an education in photography.

I am going to not loose my intrinsic motivation and keep this creative venture that is my life going for as long as I can, and I look forward to you coming along for the ride.

I am diving first into the new year with those “obligatory” introductions, or “reintroductions.” Let’s do it. Happy 2024~

I am Lex Asbury, a lifestyle, bo***ir and food photographer currently located in Seoul, South Korea. I love compelling stories, cacti, teas, a good conversation and great food. I also have a day job as an English teacher, and it’s been a journey to navigate that balance and find intrinsic motivation artistically.

I find the most joy out of getting to know people, uplifting them, and edifying them through my craft. The process of photographing a person and watch their whole being come to life and embrace themselves in that moment means the world to me and drives me. I like to say I’ll photograph until a die or go blind, and I stand by it.

Another passion for mine is investigating topics of grief, loss, ritual and humanity and how these all interweave together in our daily lives. A creative goal is to investigate those topics through photography and sociological research.

Who knows what 2024 and beyond will bring, but I am pushing myself to have a more consistent online presence.

If anyone is able to come to In Seoul, there is an opening party for my first art show in Seoul from 1:00-4:00. I will most likely be arriving around 2:00 PM. I am showcasing a couple of my favorite portraits. There’s going to be an incredible group of artists showcasing as well in this amazing group show.

Exhibition Details -
When: 12/3 – 12/31
Where: East Atelier Gallery (80 Dongsulla-gil Jongno-gu Seoul)
The gallery will be open seven days a week from 11 am to 8pm throughout the duration of the exhibition.
There will also be an opening party on Sunday, December 3rd, from 1 pm to 4pm and a closing party on December 31st from 3 pm to 6pm.
