This Constitution Day, we're proud to share that Body Treats Etc. was selected to create a special Cassava Cake Lip Balm for arriving visitors to the Cayman Islands.

Inspired by Cayman's national dessert, this limited-edition lip balm was created to celebrate the culture, traditions, and flavours that make our islands unique.

Constitution Day is more than a public holiday. It commemorates the adoption of the Cayman Islands' first Constitution in 1959, a pivotal moment that laid the foundation for the democratic rights, representation, and self-governance we enjoy today. It serves as a reminder of how far we have come as a nation and the importance of preserving our identity for future generations.

As a small business, we appreciate every opportunity, but some projects carry a deeper meaning.

Just over two years ago, Cassava Cake was officially designated as the National Dessert of the Cayman Islands. But long before that recognition, cassava cake and other heavy cakes like yam and sweet potato were more than desserts. They represented family, heritage, tradition, and legacy.

Today, through a special bakehouse experience that the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism () and the National Trust for the Cayman Islands () created for visitors and industry partners, guests are being welcomed into the story of Caymanian cassava cake and the culture surrounding it.

We’re honoured that our Cassava Cake scented candles will now become part of that experience, allowing the warmth, nostalgia, and memories of yesteryear to linger long after the last slice has been enjoyed.
