So true and in fact I run my own show at my residence. There are times I hardly get clients but I’m more than happy for every single opportunity I get. I always focus on giving my best in whatever I do & maintain my professional standards.. Hairdressing is my therapy! 💫

As a hairstylist, it’s hard not to compare yourself to what you see on social media. It seems like everyone who is “successful” has an assistant, has like 10k + of followers, constantly posts content and only works during the day.

This isn’t the reality for most stylists. I get asked all the time if I would hire an assistant. The truth is, I’m not interested in one. Maybe one day? But I like how I do things. I would have to be double booked all day long in order to have an assistant in my loft. My focus is my client sitting in my chair and sometimes it takes me 3-4 hours on one person. Assisting works for some people and makes sense for them but I am not in the place where I want one or need one.

When I’m at the salon, I do not have time to take pictures or videos on every client and post step by step what I’m doing. I’m busy! Most of the time, it’s the assistant making content for them. I try to get some good after pictures IF I have time.

And yes, I actually don’t mind working late and on an occasional Saturday. I work 3 days a week and sometimes don’t get home until 9-10pm. But I am off 3-4 days a week with my daughter. For me,
It’s worth the long hours and someday I’ll have to adjust my schedule but for now, it works for me.

The point is, do what’s best for YOU and stop comparing yourself to other hairstylists who seem more successful than you. Everyone has their own definition of success. I am very blessed to have an amazing clientele and work 3 days a week and still be a successful hairstylist.
