Currently! Commemoration of international DeafBlind awareness day.

An Invitation to all media houses, stakeholders and the community at large to join us in commemorating DeafBlind awareness day on 3rd July 2026.

The DeafBlind Association of Lesotho Board Members have just completed a 2-day Strategic Plan & Gender Policy Workshop at Mohloli Oa Bophelo, Ha Ts’osane.

Over the past two days we reviewed our priorities, set new goals for the next 3-5 years, and adopted a Gender Policy to ensure equity and inclusion for DeafBlind women, men, and youth across Lesotho.

Because real change happens when decisions are made by us, not for us. This is how we protect dignity, create opportunities , and make sure every DeafBlind person has a seat at the table.

We plan with purpose. We lead with our own voice.

Big congrats to DBAL's own Mr Peter Tekete (2nd Vice Chairperson) and Mrs Moliehi Ramoea (Gender Representative) on their election to the LNFOD Executive Board! Proud of you both!

The International Day of Sign Languages is celebrated annually on September 23rd to raise awareness about the importance of sign languages and promote the rights of Deaf people worldwide. This year's theme, "No Human Rights Without Sign Language Rights," emphasizes that sign language is a fundamental human right, essential for Deaf individuals to fully participate in society and access equal opportunities .

Why This Day Matters:

- Promoting Linguistic Identity: Sign languages are vital for preserving cultural identity and empowering deaf communities, with over 300 distinct sign languages used globally.
- Advocating for Deaf Rights: The day highlights the need for sign language rights, awareness, and accessible communication to ensure equal opportunities for deaf individuals worldwide.

Let us therefore ensure that we leave no one behind when we advocate for inclusivity.

Good afternoon DBAL followers, public gatherings on Deafblind awareness scheduled for Hathetsane Seqhobong on the 16th September 2025 at 10am.

All persons with disability around Hathetsane are invited to attend.

On the 18th September public gatherings on Deafblind awareness at memorial hall in Maseru 10am, all persons with disability around Stadium Area and C Point are invited to attend .
