Benefits of argan oil and how?
-----------------------------------
pure argan oil is at the core of any healthy skin regimen. When used on a regular basis, your skin is healthier and mild acne will fade away. The secret to this miracle liquid gold lies in its naturally healing properties.
ANTIOXIDANTS
Argan oil is naturally rich in antioxidants, which helps prevent cell oxidation and resulting ailments. Vitamin E is the primary antioxidant in pure argan oil, and it helps to keep oils in the skin naturally balanced by providing naturally oil-free moisture. At the same time, vitamin E naturally decreases skin inflammation caused by acne.
LINOLEIC ACID
While conventional medicated scrubs harshly trip away skin cells, linoleic acid prevents excess dead skin cells in the first place. This is an essential fatty acid that naturally occurs within the seeds of the argan fruit. With regular application, linoleic acid promotes healthy skin cell turnover to prevent clogged hair follicles.
OLEIC ACID
Oleic acid promotes healthy levels of sebum production. If you have dry skin, then argan oil can help by producing more natural oils that won’t clog your pores. On the flip side, oleic acid in argan oil can help keep excess sebum at bay in oily skin types.

Reasons why argan oil is good for your hair and skin
------------------------------------------------------------
Argan Oil is 80% unsaturated essential fatty acids. The most abundant of which are Omega 9 (Oleic acid) and Omega 6 (Linoleic acid). The topical application can have a number of hugely positive effects on the skin. The most important being, boosting lipid content and the repair of the skin’s barrier function. This helps protect delicate skin, improves moisture levels, helps the skin retain its own moisture which all leads to improved softness and elasticity. Topical application of Omegas are particularly beneficial to dry skin, conditions such as eczema and during extreme weather conditions, such as cold and wind, both of which can strip away at the skin’s lipid barrier.
Vitamin E:
Argan Oil is exceptionally rich in natural Tocopherols (vitamin E) as well as high molecular weight proteins. As a strong intracellular and antioxidant agent, Vitamin E Oil protects fats from breakdown by free radical chain reactions. Vitamin E prevents cellular aging due to oxidation, aids in bringing nourishment to cells, and decreases inflammation and strengthens capillary walls. It has been shown to significantly help in the reduction of scarring from wounds and the appearance of stretch marks.
Carotenoids:
The class of carotenoids detected in Argan Oil is xanthophylls. They function as an antioxidant and after absorption from food are
converted to form vitamin A in the small intestine and stored in the liver. Their antioxidant properties help inhibit the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, the “bad cholesterol”, which can lead to build up of plaque in the arteries.
Polyphenols:
Those acids are a great tool in fighting photo aging. They are, in fact, active antioxidant compounds that are perfect UV scavengers. Their skin protective abilities made them as must-have compound in the best moisturizers worldwide. A study published in a 2009 issue of “Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry” studied the effects of applying different levels of polyphenols on the skin. Participants applied either 92 or 20 percent tea polysaccharides or 98 percent polyphenols on their skin. After frequent application, participants were measured for moisture absorption, retention, sunscreen and building new skin cells. The results found that the polyphenols applied to the skin protected it against ultraviolet radiation and enhanced skin cell growth.
Ferulic Acid:
Ferulic Acid is the most abundant phenolic compound found in Argan Oil. It is a super antioxidant that is found in the cell walls of
plants. A study in 2004 showed it to be more effective at fighting free radicals than vitamin E, vitamin A or vitamin C. A more recent
study at Duke showed that when ferulic acid was added to a mix of vitamin C & E, it doubled the already impressive 4-fold UV protective qualities of the vitamins to an amazing 8-fold. The super antioxidant has even been found to increase its antioxidant activity when exposed to UV rays. Not only can it help protect your skin from future damage, but also help heal damage from the past.
Squalene:
Human skin contains 12% Squalene, which is its principal lipid, natural emollient, moisturiser and skin anti-oxidant. Tests have also shown that the ingredient not only provides hydration, but it can also help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It oxygenates skin cells by accelerating new cell growth, therefore also being effective in healing old and new scar tissue. Squalane is used in many skin creams and cosmetics as well as in vaccines. Squalane’s ability to be used as a co-oil with other ingredients makes it useful in a variety of skin care products for cleansing and nutrient delivery of other beneficial ingredients.
Sterols (phytosterols):
Argan oil contains phytosterols, which lend anti-aging benefits by promoting new collagen production that is lost from sun exposure and aging. One of the contributing factors in the aging of the skin is the breakdown and loss of collagen (the main component in connective
skin tissue) and sun exposure is a major contributor to the problem. As the body ages, it is not able to produce collagen as it once did.
The National Institutes of Health reports on a study out of Germany in which various topical preparations were tested on skin for 10 days.
The topical treatment that showed anti-aging benefits to the skin was the one that contained phytosterols and other natural fats. It is reported that phytosterols not only stopped the slow-down of collagen production that can be caused by the sun, it actually encouraged new collagen production.
