Dear friends,

IFG is selling beautiful postcards with motifs from the "The Burma Alphabet" (1920) book, authored and illustrated by Charlotte Wheeler-Duffe, that make an attractive Christmas gift.

The cards are printed on heavy, matte paper. Two different sets of motifs are available in a box of 6 foldable cards plus envelops:
1) A - Ananda Paya, C- the Chinthe, E - the Elephant, I - the Irrawaddy River, K - the Kyaung (wooden monastery), L - the Laung (boat)
2) M - the Moat by King Mindon Min, P -the Pagoda, Q -the Queen, U - Umbrella, W - the Well, Z - the Zayat.
The price per box is 7,000 Kyat.
All proceeds go to Charity

Dear friends,

We are happy to announce that the guest speaker at our next Coffee Morning on 10th February will be U Maung Maung, the secretary of the Myanmar Consumers Union (MCU).
U Maung Maung will give us insight into the work of MCU, how it tries to improve the rights and protection of consumers and also talk about its achievement in particular the Online Consumer Complaint System that allows anybody to submit complaints in English and Myanmar language.

Please join us for an interesting and informative Coffee Morning on 10. February 2020, at the Inya Lake Hotel, Elephant Room, from 9:30 am – 11:30 am.

Fee: Kyat 8,000 for coffee/tea/cookies

Cheerful start in the new year!
In our first IFG Coffee Morning in 2020 make up artist Shwe Yu showed her skills in a step-by-step full face makeup with Sumie and a eye make up for deeper set eyes with Susanne.
Besides doing make up artistry, Shwe Yu is also a great hairstylist. Her business card is pictured below.

Thank You!

It is year's end and the IFG team thanks our members and friends for their kind and consistent support in 2019! Thanks to your contribution and volunteer work, IFG could make a significant donation to the Catholic Home for the Aged Poor (see former post).

A special Thank You goes also to Sak Kaw Ma စက္ကောမ Myanmar Magician who delivered a great performance at our September Coffee Morning as well as to our esteemed guest speakers from La Boulangerie Française - Yangon, Thant Myanmar, Zero Plastic, and Phandeeyar, who introduced us to the important work of their organizations with engaging presentations and discussions.

The IFG team is looking forward to welcome you again in 2020 to our program of monthly meetings with interesting talks, social activities and fund raising events.

Dear friends and supporters of IFG

On 21. December we are visiting the Catholic Home for the Aged Poor to make our yearly donation.

The home is currently providing care for 45 men and 90 women of different religious and ethnic background.

If you would like to join, please come to the Catholic Home for the Aged Poor on Saturday morning, 21. December at 8:30 am.
The Home is located at the corner of Thein Phyu Road and Daw Thein Tin Road in Yangon, close to Karaweik.
After donating our gifts, we will have the opportunity to spend some time with the residents.

On 21. December, the International Friendship Group (IFG) made the year's end donation at the Catholic Home for the Aged Poor in Yangon on Thein Phyu Road.

135 residents (45 men and 90 women) as well as the Catholic Sisters and staff members accepted our donations of

2 wheel chairs,
3 rice bags,
135 envelopes/packets containing grapes, biscuits, chocolate, coffee and personal items like socks, soap, and a tooth brush,
135 envelopes with cash,
and a special cash donation for the Sisters and the staff.

We are particularly grateful to the volunteers from Tzu Chi Myanmar Foundation who organized a cheerful program with music and dance and helped us to distribute the gifts.

Thanks to all volunteers, supporters and friends of IFG who made this donation possible!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.

IFG announces the launch of beautiful postcards (single and box of 6) with motifs from Charlotte Wheeler-Duffe's book The Burma Alphabet (1920).

The cards are foldable and the boxes include envelops. They make attractive gifts and can be purchased at:

and Christmas Bazaar of the American Club on 7. December.
