Lash retention suddenly changed… but your routine hasn’t? 👀

Sometimes the answer isn’t your lash artist, your aftercare or even the adhesive.

Your natural lashes are constantly moving through their own growth and shedding cycle — and changes happening inside the body can sometimes influence that cycle.

Certain medications, hormonal changes and treatments have been associated with changes in hair growth or increased shedding. That means you may notice more extensions disappearing with the natural lash still attached.

And that distinction matters. 👇🏼

If the extension comes off alone, we look at the adhesive bond, application and aftercare.

If the natural lash is attached to it, that lash has shed — and no adhesive can stop a natural lash from leaving when its cycle is finished.

Medication-related changes aren’t necessarily immediate either. Increased shedding may appear weeks or even months after a change, which can make a sudden retention difference seem completely random.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Never stop, change or adjust prescribed medication because of your lashes. If you’re concerned about a possible side effect, speak with your doctor or pharmacist. Your health always comes first.

So if something has recently changed, tell your lash artist. It gives us another piece of the puzzle when we’re trying to understand why your usual retention suddenly looks different.

Bad retention doesn’t automatically mean bad lash work. Sometimes we need to look beyond the glue bottle. 🤎
