Given recent events: Your blood glucose sensor doesn't look weird! And neither does your insulin pump or any other medical (and necessary) device! π₯°
Wearing it doesn't make your outfit look any worse, nor should you feel ashamed of it in any way. π«Άπ» Everything is perfect just the way it is!
Love yourself and let's celebrate the progress of modern medicine!
The wording that was used makes me angry... I work with people with diabetes, I have it myself, and time and again I hear how people feel ashamed to show their sensor or pump. Children who feel ashamed around other kids and worry about what they might say; adults, who only tell their closest circle about their diabetes...
Honestly, I struggled with this for years, too. Such a struggle, in fact, that I deliberately chose not to use a sensor.
For me, thatβs a thing of the past, but for many others living with diabetes, that shame is daily reality!
I want to show that there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a visible medical device. Itβs actually led me into so many wonderful conversations! If this encourages even just one person to feel a little less shame, then being open about it in public has served its purpose! π«Άπ»π₯°

New name, same me! π«Άπ»
all.about.my.hair has become .aylin β¨οΈ
A more personal name, a change of expectations, but still me π₯°
Over the last 6 years I mainly shared all about my hair π«Άπ» but I also want to include more about my life and since it's a huge part of it, my type 1 diabetes and everything else that matters to me π₯°
Let's start this change with a quick introduction of myself βΊοΈ
I'm Aylin, 26 years old and happily taken (!) π©πΌββ€οΈβπβπ¨π½
I live in Germany π but won't share more about my exact location.
My hobbies are my hair, make up, my cats and music (I like weight training as well, but recently couldn't find motivation) π₯° the genres I enjoy most are Rock & Metal, which surprises most people πΆ
I have type 1 diabetes for over 16 years now and recently started my journey with a new insulin pump + new cgm, so don't be surprised to see my medical devices every now and then π€«
Social media is currently a hobby for me, I have a normal full-time job. So everything I share is and will always be my honest opinion π€« I will not be influenced my money, that's not what I stand for!
Hope you had fun reading about me, feel free to share some facts about you as well! And let me know, what you think about my new username β¬οΈπ₯°
