A MUST READ...TILL THE END 🙏
SOMETHING THAT REALLY FRUSTRATES ME AS A SMALL ENTREPRENEUR…
First, before anything else, I want to say a huge THANK YOU to every single person who stops at our table, buys from us, comes back for more, recommends us, encourages us, or simply says a few kind words.
Maybe other small business owners will understand exactly what I mean.
Running a small business today is already like swimming against the current.
The cost of living has become incredibly high. The market is flooded with imported products, mixed oils and all kinds of homemade hair oils Made up of Adulterated Oils.... Competition is everywhere. And behind a small local brand, there is often just one person doing almost everything..... Producing, Preparing, Packing, Transporting, Displaying, Selling and Explaining.
Then comes another reality we face during exhibitions.
You’re standing behind your table after hours of work. Business may already be slow. The weather may not be helping. Every person who stops and looks at your products gives you a little hope:
“Maybe this will be my next customer.”
Someone approaches.
They start asking questions about hair loss, hair growth, dandruff, scalp problems… You listen carefully. You ask questions. You explain possible causes. You share what you have learned through years of working with customers. You explain which products may suit their needs and how to use them properly.
Ten minutes… fifteen minutes… sometimes even longer.
You genuinely believe the person is interested.
Your voice, your time, your knowledge and your energy all go into that conversation.
Then comes the moment when you naturally expect to conclude the sale…
And suddenly, the person simply turns around and walks away.
No “thank you.”
No “I’ll think about it.”
No “I was only asking for information.”
Not even a little acknowledgement for the time you just gave them.
And THAT is what bothers me.
Nobody is obliged to buy from us. Absolutely nobody.
Come, ask questions, compare, take your time before spending your hard-earned money ....that is completely understandable.
But basic courtesy costs nothing.
A simple “Thank you for your time” means a lot.
Because behind that little display table is not a machine.
There is a small entrepreneur trying to survive, trying to pay expenses, trying to keep a local business alive and still showing up every morning despite how difficult things have become.
You may walk away thinking it was “just a few questions.”
But that entrepreneur gave you something that also has value:
their time, their experience, their knowledge and their energy.
Small businesses don't only need customers.
We also need a little consideration, respect and basic human courtesy.
And perhaps that is something our society is slowly forgetting. ❤️
