Life unexpected paths. The sudden passing away of Sharath Jois, lineage holder of Ashtanga yoga system as grandson of Pattabhi Jois, at age 53 shows fragility of life and fills our heart with sadness and sorrow.

RIP Sharath Jois, age 53, grandson of Pattabhi Jois and lineage holder of Ashtanga Vinyasa System is now in transition as he left his body in a sudden passing while on tour in the US on Monday 11-11.

Our prayers are for his soul and family and worldwide sangha. I knew Sharat, both Mysore, India and in the US as an assistant to his grandson in the early 1990’s. He was a humble practitioner who emerged as a teacher after his grandfathers passing in a complex time in the yoga world. Our heart goes out to his family and Ashtanga practitioners everywhere.
