Shampoo y su significado:
Parece que hay una cierta tendencia a utilizar términos anglófonos para los productos cosméticos y de higiene personal. Sin embargo, el término champú -en inglés, shampoo- no tiene su origen en esta lengua, sino que procede de la India.
Allí se denomina champo a los tradicionales masajes en la cabeza con aceites y lociones capilares, costumbre que no tardó en ser adoptada por los colonizadores británicos y sus esposas, que incluyeron en las tareas de sus sirvientes masajearles el cuero cabelludo. Así fue como el término llegó a la metrópoli inglesa.
Al principio se utilizaba para designar el masaje en la cabeza que ofrecían las peluquerías más exclusivas, pero no tardó en emplearse también para referirse a los productos que se usaban para enjabonar el pelo. La palabra no se refiere tanto al producto como a la forma de aplicarlo.
