On 22 Sept 2025 (US time), Donald Trump—alongside HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.—made high-profile remarks linking Tylenol (acetaminophen) in pregnancy and childhood vaccines to autism, and highlighted leucovorin (folinic acid) after an FDA action related to cerebral folate deficiency (CFD).

🔎 What the evidence says 📚

Vaccines do not cause autism. Multiple systematic reviews by CDC and the National Academy of Medicine conclude no causal link between vaccines (including MMR) and autism. The 1998 paper that sparked the myth was retracted.

Tylenol/acetaminophen in pregnancy: Research signals are inconsistent and largely observational; recent explainers and expert statements emphasise insufficient evidence to claim causation. Clinical bodies (e.g., maternal–fetal medicine) warn that untreated fever/pain can itself harm pregnancy; standard advice is to use the lowest effective dose when indicated.

Leucovorin: The FDA action pertains to CFD symptoms, not autism. Reuters and FDA materials note small, heterogeneous studies in subset cases (folate transport/autoantibody issues); it is not a general autism treatment approval.
