♻️ Recycling Isn’t the Hero You Think It Is
We’ve been told for years that recycling will solve our waste problem.
The truth? Recycling is important, but it should be our last resort.
Every time we recycle, energy and resources are still needed to collect, transport and process the material. Many items can only be recycled a limited number of times, and some never make it through the system at all.
Before asking, “Can I recycle this?”, try asking:
🌿 Can I refuse it?
🌿 Can I reduce it?
🌿 Can I reuse or refill it?
🌿 Can I repair or repurpose it?
Only when none of these options are possible should we recycle.
The most sustainable product isn’t the one that gets recycled.
It’s the one that never became waste in the first place.
