Pharmacist Explains: Haze Can Affect Your Child's Skin Too

When we talk about haze, we usually think about our children's lungs.

But their skin is exposed too.

Fine particles, dust and other pollutants can settle on the skin throughout the day. For children with sensitive or eczema-prone skin, this added environmental irritation can sometimes contribute to dryness, itching and eczema flares.

And if your child's eczema suddenly seems worse despite using the same skincare routine, don't forget to consider what's changed around them—including the environment.

During haze season:

- Gently cleanse away sweat, dust and environmental impurities
- Moisturise to support the skin barrier
- Reduce outdoor exposure when air quality is unhealthy
- Watch for early signs of irritation or a flare

For sensitive skin, the goal isn't to scrub everything away.

It's to gently remove the irritants while protecting the skin barrier. 💙

Starting solids can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re wondering "Am I feeding my baby enough?” or “Is this meal balanced?”

The good news? You don’t need to make every meal perfect. ❤️
A simple way to build your baby’s plate is to think:

🤎 Iron-rich food — meat, fish, beans, lentils, iron-fortified cereal
🌈 Fruits & vegetables — offer a variety of colours and flavours
🥑 Healthy fat — avocado, full-fat yoghurt, nut or seed butter, olive oil
🥣 Safe texture — prepare foods according to your baby’s developmental stage and feeding skills

And remember — babies are learning about food too. Give them opportunities to explore different tastes and textures, and follow their hunger and fullness cues.
