What started with 1,500 mangrove seeds has grown into something much bigger 🌱💚
As part of the Mangrove Community Nursery Programme at Carey Island, we recently carried out a mangrove seedling buyback from the Mah Meri community, where SD Guthrie purchases back seedlings that have been successfully cultivated, creating both environmental impact and additional income opportunities for the community.
With an incredible 97% success rate, every seedling returned reflects the care, commitment, and collective effort behind this initiative. It’s a reminder that meaningful conservation starts from the ground up, with communities growing and restoring nature together, one seedling at a time. 🌿✨
A meaningful day celebrating the people behind the roots of restoration, and a future with stronger coastlines, richer biodiversity, and communities that continue to grow together.

It is estimated that less than 2,500 Malayan Tapirs remain in the wild.
In conjunction with World Tapir Day, SD Guthrie formed a strategic partnership with PERHILITAN to strengthen conservation efforts for one of Malaysia’s most iconic endangered wildlife species. 🌱
Together with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Copenhagen Zoo, Guthrie also ran a one-day programme that brought together conservationists, students, communities, and industry players through leadership discussions, workshops, and awareness activities focused on protecting Malaysia’s biodiversity. 🌏
Protecting wildlife takes more than one organisation, it takes collective action. And we’re proud to work with PERHILITAN to make that happen! 🤝
