With only Medical Nutrition Therapy, a patient can reduce cholesterol levels? ๐Ÿค”

A case shared by our dietitian - Mr L is a 50 years old businessman who travels outstation frequently for work. Four months ago, he experienced chest pain and shortness of breath, prompting him to do a full health check up.

He did not successfully pass the stress test and was found to have high cholesterol levels. Mr L was also overweight. His diet at that time was not well taken care of and was mostly taken what was convenient for him while working.

After consulting a dietitian, Mr L made changes to his diet according to the dietitian's advise. Mr L was very cooperative and met his dietitian for monthly follow-ups.

After 4 months, his total cholesterol reduced by 18% while his LDL cholesterol reduced by 22%! On top of that, he lost 5kg of body weight. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

He was very happy with the results and that encouraged him to continue making positive changes to his diet and lifestyle with the help of his dietitian. Mr L was able to manage his health only through diet and lifestyle modification, without medications. ๐Ÿคฉ

Anggaran kalori untuk 1 pinggan sihat adalah sama atau kurang dari 500 kalori.

Tetapi AWASโ€ผ๏ธpengambilan kalori boleh meningkat sehingga 800-1000 kalori untuk 1 pinggan sihat sekiranya :

1- Kuah banjir terutama masak lemak atau sambal tumis.
2- Makan bahagian lemak terutamanya kulit ayam atau lemak daging walaupun daging bakar.
3- Semua masakan bergoreng dalam 1 pinggan.

Our body is an expert at getting rid of toxins no matter what we eat. Our body is capable of cleansing itself through the liver, f***s, urine, and sweat. Our liver makes toxic substances harmless, then ensures that theyโ€™re released from our body.

The only type of detox diet that is worthwhile is to limit processed, high-fat, and sugary foods, and replace them with more whole foods like fruits and vegetables.

As for me, detox diets are more likely to eliminate processed foods, alcohol, various unhealthy foods; and get vitamins and minerals that were lacking before. A much smarter approach is to eat healthier and improve our lifestyle.

*Instill a healthy eating habit as young as possible.

You can have a choice to eat healthier.

How do I reduce fat & calories for our local favorite nasi lemak?
1. Replaced santan (coconut milk) with low-fat milk.
2. Air-fried peanuts without oil
3. Microwaved ikan bilis without oil too

Vegetables & fruits are important too - provide fiber, vitamins & minerals. I've added mushrooms into steamed minced meat for my kids. And also a fruit popsicle for my teething baby to soothe her gum.
