1. Caring for white hijabs
Wash white hijabs separately and dry in the sun to make your white hijabs whiter and smell fresher.

2. Storing Hijabs
Store hijabs in clean, dry areas. I like to fold and and keep my hijabs in a dresser drawer instead of hanging them so they don’t collect dust. Avoid folding hijabs on the same line over and over again. This can create a crease and the fabric may break and start fraying at the crease.

If you have hijabs that you save for special occasions, roll them instead of folding them and store them neatly.

Washing hijabs-

Hand washing is best for most hijabs. It’s easier to hand wash them while you’re taking a shower. Use only mild detergent or castile soap and cold water to wash hijabs. Do not use bleach. If you are soaking you hijab to treat a stain, soak light and dark colored hijbas separately. Squeeze out the water, do not wring hijabs to avoid damaging the fabric.

If you must put them in the washer, put them in a mesh bag first and then wash them in cold water on delicate cycle.

Drying hijabs-

Hang-dry hijabs instead of tossing them in the dryer. You can hang hijabs on your towel bar to dry or lay them on a flat surface to retain their shape. You can also hang dry them outside in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight that may fade the fabric.

Avoid drying hijabs in the dryer as it can ruin the fabric. The hijabs can get damaged from the heat and friction or get a snag from a zipper, hook, etc. Some hijabs can shrink or lose their sheen in the dryer.

Treat stains as soon as possible-

Sunscreen, lotions, make up, etc. can damage your hijab. The same goes for other accidents like spills and other food mishaps. When you have a stain on your hijab, treat it right away. The sooner you treat it, the better chances you’ll have to save your hijab.

For spot cleaning, just put a dab of any detergent on the stain and work on the stain with your fingertips. Only wash the stained part and the surrounding area in cold water. You can blot clean when you don’t have access to water or detergent. Use a piece of paper towel or toilet paper to dab the stained area.

For dry marks, use a small brush or lint roller to clean the hijab.
