The Erongo Governor’s Fish Consumption Promotion Project was officially launched at the DRC Sport Field in Swakopmund, bringing together regional leadership, councillors, dignitaries, community members and stakeholders in support of an initiative with people and opportunity at its heart.

Led by Honourable Natalia /Goagoses, Governor of the Erongo Region, the initiative aims to increase local fish consumption, empower youth and women, strengthen small and medium enterprises, and contribute to sustainable community development.
As Namibia’s fishing hub, Erongo is uniquely positioned to ensure that fish is not only an export commodity, but also a more accessible and affordable source of nutrition while creating meaningful economic opportunities within local communities.

The project will support beneficiaries through fish shops equipped with cooling facilities, initial fish stock, start-up capital, business and hygiene training, mentorship and branding under the Erongo Fish Consumption identity.

Among those in attendance were Miss Namibia 2026 Charene Labuschagne and Miss Namibia National Director Beaulah Boois-Beukes, alongside councillors, regional leaders, dignitaries and other stakeholders.

From the fishing industry to the family table, this initiative is about creating opportunities, supporting local enterprise and ensuring that the benefits of Namibia’s rich marine resources reach more of our communities. 🇳🇦💙
