*WHY NIGERIANS EARNESTLY ASK FOR UMAHI, COME 2023*

Has anyone taken time to have an introspection and ask; why do Nigerians want Umahi in 2023? The answer is not farfetched as we can see in subsequent paragraphs of this very important piece.

Besides his landmark achievements and experience as Governor of Ebonyi State and as Chairman Southeast Governors' Forum, Governor Umahi is a highly de-tribalized Nigerian who doesn't ponder ethnic and ethnocentric sentiments at everyone's back against national unity.

Talk about patriotism and you won't be making a mistake in citing Governor Umahi's patriotic fervour as the driving force behind his total transformation and development of Ebonyi State which Nigerians trust he will replicate in the entire country as a patriotic Nigerian in sincerity of words and actions. Hence, Nigerians earnestly clamour for him to become the next President of Nigeria in 2023 to reenact his love for Ebonyi State for the entire nation.

We all know the problems facing Nigeria at present. These problems range from dwindling economic fortunes to insecurity which has become pervasive in recent times mainly because of the activities of insurgents, bandits and so-called unknown gunmen. Governor Umahi has proven the ability to nip these in the bud by his widely celebrated security proactiveness as a Governor. A case in point is Ebonyi State and indeed the entire Southeast geopolitical zone where Ebubeagu; a vigilante security outfit he conceived and at the same time midwifed for the zone has reduced insecurity to its barest minimum in the area.

On economy, Governor Umahi has put in place infrastructures in Ebonyi State that have made the State a tourist destination and investors' delight. These, no doubt will boost the economy of Ebonyi State as they yield enough Internally Generated Revenue to compliment the monthly allocation of the State. These feats are what Nigeria need to rise again and it is for these reasons that Nigerians want Umahi in 2023.

How about youth friendliness and youth inclusion in the art of governance? Governor Umah is the only Governor in Nigeria whose youth friendliness is unprecedented. He has has the exceptional record of appointing over 1,000 Ebonyi youths as Management Committee Members, Liaison officers, TAs, STAs and EAs. The records are there. With Governor Umahi as President of Nigeria, come 2023, many Nigerian youths will be sufficiently engaged in government and governance; so much so that terrorism, banditry and 'unknown gunmenism' will become unattractive to Nigerian youths and insecurity will die a natural death in our country. This is also why Nigerians want Governor Umahi as President, having proven his mettle in that direction.

What of the promotion and encouragement of women participation in politics and Governance? Government Umahi not only implements the 35% affirmative action for women participation in Governance in obedience to the epochal Beijing declaration, he also surpasses it, giving the fact that evidence of women participation in Governance in Ebonyi State are found in both appointive and elective positions. This was a rarity in the past as women were considered not fit to be in politics, talk more of being part of governance. This is another good area where Governor Umahi for President is in high demand across the length and breadth of Nigeria.

Now let's talk about age and energy. Governor Umahi has age on his side and he is a leader who is highly energetic; and who is always bringing his energy to bear on projects' monitoring and supervision. It is this age and energy that Nigeria needs and this explains why the clarion call of Nigerians to Governor Umahi to make himself available for President, come 2023.

Governor Umahi is one politician who is known for his politics of inclusion and leadership of accommodation regardless of political party leanings and affiliations. In 2015, Governor Umahi integrated former members of the Labour Party who worked against his election as Governor of Ebonyi State. He neither sidelined, nor persecuted any of them. He gave them political appointments and empowered them in that direction as Ebonyians. Even as a member of APC, he has nothing against the people fighting him, most of whom he made, but who have chosen to remain on the other side of the political divide and throw tantrums at him. Governor Umahi is a democrat who is highly tolerant of opposition and Nigerians know him for this democratic virtue and as a result they desire him to be the next President of Nigeria.

This piece will not leave off Governor Umahi's consummate public relations guruship. The Governor is not a localized Nigerian. He is a Nigerian who is well known across all the six geopolitical zones of the country because of his enormous goodwill, awesome congeniality and trans-regional friendship. Governor Umahi is a leader who had built trans-tribal bridges across Nigeria and who sees Nigeria from a holistic perspective, not from a tribal parochial prism. This uncommon latitude is another motivation for the call by Nigerians to Governor Umahi to make himself available for the top job.

Democracy espouses freedom of expression and the right to political choice. Hence, this viral demand for Governor Umahi to become the next President of Nigeria, come 2023 is in tandem with the ethos of true democratic practice and should therefore be considered by the Governor with a view to harken to the voice of the people, which invariably is the voice of God.
