Dry Skin….🌚

There are about five different Skin Types of which dry skin is one.

Dry Skin is a Skin type that produces less Sebum than normal skin type.

As a result of the lack of Sebum, dry skin lacks the lipids that it needs to retain Moisture and protective shield against external factors.

Dry Skin Type can be associated with itching, uneven skin texture, tight skin, dull, rough complexion, invisible pores, red patches e.t.c.

Causes of Dry Skin
* Genes
* Weather such as sun, cold and wind.
* Aging
* Long hot showers and baths
* Hardh ingredients in creams, soaps,cleanser, e.t.c.

Dry skin is not a poor skin type – it just needs a different skincare attention.

Try using the products specific to your skin type like Cleanser, Toner, long-lasting moisturizing agents, best face oil for dry skin, etc.

Environmental conditions like weather, dry air, pollution, heat, etc. often rob skin’s moisturizing agents that further causes dry skin.

Medical conditions and side effects of prescribed drugs can also cause dryness of the skin. Otherwise, simple skincare suitable for dry skin is sufficient to maintain healthy-hygienic dry skin.

Tips for maintaining the Dry Skin Type

* Use humidifiers

* Wear gloves when using cleaning agents, detergent and solvents

* Don’t scrub while bathing or drying. Gently wash your skin

* Use smooth on moisturizer right after bathing. Creams and oils work better than lotions for this skin type.

Use the right skincare products and do not forget also to drink enough water 😁

✌🏽Moisturizers: Moisturizers help keep your skin moist, retains the skin’s moisture and prevent it from leaving the skin’s surface.

It also replenishes the water it looses throughout the day.

Moisturizers help maintain the skin’s balance.

Not moisturizing your skin regularly, tells a lot on your skin as it become rough and flaky😬

I know we do not want this, so my darlings,😘moisturize everyday 🥳

My oil skin type people are somewhere right now

saying “But my skin is already the headquarter for oil production 😒.

Do I still need to moisturize? Won’t I be adding more oils?😕

👎No darling, the lack of moisture can drive your skin to produce more oil in order to compensate for it which leads to clogged pores😟 and eventually BREAKOUTS 🤮

So you see, that regardless of your skin type, you still need to MOISTURIZE that SKIN.

All you have to do, is pick Moisturizers meant for oily skin types only😁 there you go, I know you are excited already 😇

🤟🏽Sunscreens: The importance of sunscreen for your skin’s health cannot be overemphasized.🙄

Sunscreens aren’t necessary for just sunny days or days you have to go to sunny places like the beach👎🏽

Sunscreens are important for our everyday skincare routine. Even on less sunny days. Yes!

Even on cloudy days, our skin is susceptible to the sun’s rays which can lead to skin cancer, discoloration, and wrinkles over time.

Sunscreens apart from reducing your cancer risk, it also prevents effects of photoaging like dark spots, sunburn, wrinkles,discolouration,e.t.c.

Been avoiding the use of sunscreen?

Include it in your routine today baby🥰 because you’d be doing your skin’s health a whole lot of good 😊

Must have basic skincare routine products...🌚

Most times we are only just about the beautiful glowing skin…

You know that feeling of walking
pass people and they be like “Hey, Mary, your skin is so beautiful”🤩

or compliments that goes as far as asking “who is your skincare plug?”😻

and at that moment, we feel like a celebrity😇and want to do some more ‘shakara’😋feeling of
pride)

We want all the paparazzi but are mostly not concerned about maintaining a consistent HEALTHY skincare routine 😐

Having a healthy skincare routine does not necessarily mean doing a lot or having a lot of products at your disposal🥴

Shari Lipner a dermatologist at Weill Cornel Medicine and New-York

Prebysterian explains that “There

are approximately a million skincare

products out there. But the truth is

that, for your skincare routine to be

effective, it should be as simple and
consistent as possible”😉

You see that what you really need afterall, is the basics….a simple and consistent routine.

I know you’re already asking “what are these basics”😄. Let’s quickly go into it👇🏽

☝🏽Cleansers: Cleansers are used to remove dirts, debris, bacteria and excess oils from the skin.

As you go through your everyday activities, your skin accumulates dirts and bacteria that can cause skin issues like discolouration,
breakouts e.t.c. And an uncomfortable greasy feel😣( this can get really uncomfortable)

To avoid this, the skin should be

properly cleansed at the end of

everyday and beginning of everyday.

This gives you a fresh feeling of your skin. Apart from this, it also helps you get the maximum benefits of products applied because the skin will be free of dirts, debris and excess oil😇

One of the ways to get a glowing skin amongst many is; creating a workable routine for yourself.

Fix a time for your skin in your daily/weekly schedule for good pampering of your skin.

Fruits are essential parts of the human diet and should form an integral part of everybody’s diet. They are very good sources of vitamins and nutrients the body needs.

What is taken inside your body forms more than half of the glow that the physical skincare products brings.

Today, we’ll be discussing five out of the many glowing skin fruits we have. So if you desire a glowing skin, you should read to the end😋

1.Watermelon: Watermelon being made up of 92%
water, makes incredibly great for the skin.

It keeps the skin very hydrated from inside out. Apart from this, it is also rich in vitamins such as Vitamin C,A and B1.

These nutrients gives your skin a beautiful healthy glow, reduces inflammation and also improves uneven skin texture.

2.Cucumber: This is another fruit rich in natural hydration.

Cucumber being rich in Vitamin C and K, helps keep the skin bright and glowing.

The cooling agents in cucumber makes its great calming agent soothing the skin and gives it an antioxidant boost.

3.Banana: Banana is essential in keeping your skin’s glow.
It helps the skin stay hydrated and glowing. It is also rich in potassium and vitamin A,B and C.

4.Apples: Apples help restore the skin’s youthful glow because of the Vitamin A and C present in it.

This fruit is loaded with Magnesium,dietary fibres, antioxidants,potassium which protects the

Exfoliation Don’ts
- [ ] Do not over exfoliate: In as much as we want a bright, beautiful smooth skin, avoid the temptation to exfoliate every single day. This can cause a lot more damage to your skin’s barrier function which prevents the loss of moisture. Over exfoliation can cause dehydration, peeling, redness and breakouts.

- [ ] Do not exfoliate if your skin is irritated: Give your skin a break to heal before exfoliation when irritated or has an open wound.

- [ ] Do not be rough on your skin during exfoliation: Avoid over scrubbing with so much vigour. This can cause irritation on your skin

- [ ] Pay attention to your scrub: If a particular product causes too much redness or skin is irritated after application,stop the use of the products and look for milder suitable one for your skin type

- [ ] Avoid using a body scrub for the face: Face scrubs often come in less harsh ingredients content because of the difference of the face skin texture and the body skin texture. Get a good face scrub for your face.

Thank you my Sleek Skin Nuggets geng for the support so far. On today’s episode of Sleek Skin Nuggets, we’ll be talking about the Dos and Don’ts of Exfoliation.

Exfoliation is an important skincare exercise that should be included in our routine if we want a healthy, beautiful, smooth and glowing skin. However, if not properly done, it can cause huge damage to one’s skin instead of the desired smooth, glowing,beautiful skin we desire. Hence the reason why we must know the exfoliation Dos and Don’ts.

Exfoliation Dos
- [ ] Do exfoliate once or twice a week. For the oily skin type it can be done up to thrice a week

- [ ] Do exfoliate at Night: It is advisable to exfoliate at night because at this time, your skin is not exposed to the sun UV rays. Exfoliation exposes a fresh skin layer. This makes it sensitive and vulnerable when after exfoliation. Therefore, exfoliating in the day time when the skin is prone to sun damage can cause sunburn and other skin damage.

- [ ] Exfoliate Everywhere: Some people tend to exfoliate only the face to remove blackheads,whiteheads and dead skin cells. Forgetting that the whole body needs to also shed off dead skin cells. So do also to other parts of the body what you do to the face😉

- [ ] Always wear Sunscreen: Always apply sunscreen but very important especially after exfoliation. Because of the sensitivity of your skin at that stage, it becomes very sensitive to sun’s harmful rays.

- [ ] Do moisturize: Ensure to follow in a moisturizer immediately after exfoliation to prevent your skin from drying up. Moisturizing the skin helps keep it hydrated and heals the skin.
