President Tinubu approves a 30–80% salary increase for armed forces personnel, which will take effect from September 1, 2026.

Under the new structure:
Officers above the rank of Colonel (Brigadier-Generals, Major-Generals, Lieutenant-Generals and Generals) will receive a 30 per cent increase.

Personnel from Colonel down to Warrant Officer will get a 50 per cent increase.

Rank-and-file personnel from Private to Staff Sergeant will enjoy an 80 per cent increase.

The adjustment will raise the annual salary bill for the armed forces from ₦660 billion to ₦924 billion.

The Nigerian Police force has published their State-by-State Executive Summary of Operational Success for 1st – 2nd August, 2026 as recorded below

1. BORNO STATE (1st August, 2026): TERRORIST ATTACK REPELLED
✅ Combined security forces successfully repelled a terrorist attack on a local government secretariat.
✅ Normalcy restored after the operation.
✅ Clearance operations ongoing to track fleeing terrorists.
🔹 Status: SCID Maiduguri Investigating.

2. ZAMFARA STATE (31st July–2nd August, 2026): BANDITS NEUTRALIZED / SUSPECT ARRESTED
✅ Joint security operatives neutralized several bandits during a fierce gun battle.
✅ One suspect arrested while allegedly conveying communication gadgets to bandits.
✅ Operations continue to dismantle criminal networks across the state.
🔹 Status: SCID Gusau Investigating.

3. NASARAWA STATE (1st August, 2026): 551 ROUNDS OF LIVE AMMUNITION RECOVERED / TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED
✅ Police operatives intercepted two female suspects transporting 551 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition.
✅ Ten loaded AK-47 magazines and additional ammunition recovered.
✅ Suspects confessed and investigation has been expanded to identify other members of the network.
🔹 Status: SCID Lafia Investigating.

4. RIVERS STATE (2nd August, 2026): THREE CULTISTS ARRESTED / TWO STOLEN POLICE AK-47 RIFLES RECOVERED
✅ Three suspects arrested over the killing of two police officers during an earlier attack.
✅ Two stolen Police AK-47 rifles recovered from the gang's hideout.
✅ Efforts ongoing to arrest the remaining gang member.
🔹 Status: SCID Port Harcourt Investigating.

5. IMO STATE (1st–2nd August, 2026): IPOB/ESN COLLABORATOR ARRESTED / ARMS RECOVERED
✅ Suspected native doctor linked to IPOB/ESN terrorist activities arrested.
✅ One suspected cultist arrested during a raid on a cult initiation camp.
✅ Two Beretta pistols, one locally-made pistol and live ammunition recovered.
🔹 Status: SCID Owerri Investigating.

6. KADUNA STATE (1st August, 2026): KIDNAP VICTIM RESCUED
✅ Police operatives rescued a kidnapped motor boy during a gun duel with bandits.
✅ Victim rescued unharmed and reunited with the driver.
✅ Operations continue to recover the stolen truck and arrest fleeing suspects.
🔹 Status: SCID Kaduna Investigating.

7. KOGI STATE (2nd August, 2026): FOUR KIDNAP VICTIMS RESCUED
✅ Joint security team rescued four abducted victims during bush-combing operations.
✅ Victims reunited with their families.
✅ Manhunt intensified to arrest the fleeing kidnappers.
🔹 Status: SCID Lokoja Investigating.

8. ENUGU STATE (1st–2nd August, 2026): FIVE SUSPECTS ARRESTED / ONE KIDNAP VICTIM RESCUED
✅ Five suspects arrested with fi****ms, live cartridges and motorcycles during a joint security operation.
✅ One abducted church official rescued during search operations.
✅ Joint security teams continue efforts to rescue the remaining victims.
🔹 Status: SCID Enugu Investigating.

9. ANAMBRA STATE (3rd August, 2026): NOTORIOUS KIDNAPPER ARRESTED
✅ Detectives arrested a notorious kidnap and armed robbery suspect linked to several kidnapping operations.
✅ Suspect confessed to involvement in multiple abductions.
✅ Phones containing incriminating videos and operational voice notes recovered.
🔹 Status: SCID Awka Investigating.

10. TARABA STATE (31st July, 2026): KIDNAPPING SUSPECT ARRESTED
✅ Police arrested a suspected kidnapper linked to a notorious criminal gang.
✅ Suspect confessed and provided useful intelligence.
✅ Investigation ongoing to apprehend other gang members.
🔹 Status: SCID Jalingo Investigating.

11. AKWA IBOM STATE (1st–2nd August, 2026): KIDNAPPING SUSPECTS ARRESTED / CRIMINAL HIDEOUT RAIDED
✅ Four suspects arrested during a raid on a criminal hideout.
✅ Large quantities of suspected illicit drugs recovered.
✅ Two suspects arrested in connection with a high-profile kidnapping investigation.
🔹 Status: SCID Uyo Investigating.

12. DELTA STATE (1st–2nd August, 2026): KIDNAPPING PLOT FOILED / CULTISTS ARRESTED
✅ Suspect arrested while planning a kidnapping operation.
✅ Firearm and live cartridges recovered.
✅ Three suspected cultists arrested with dangerous weapons and other exhibits.
🔹 Status: SCID Asaba Investigating.

13. DELTA STATE (31st July, 2026): FOUR ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS ARRESTED
✅ Four suspects arrested over an armed robbery investigation.
✅ Two pump-action guns and three suspected stolen motorcycles recovered.
🔹 Status: SCID Asaba Investigating.

14. EBONYI STATE (1st–2nd August, 2026): FI****MS RECOVERED / EIGHT SUSPECTS ARRESTED
✅ Six armed robbery suspects arrested with two locally-made fi****ms and live cartridges.
✅ Two additional suspects arrested for unlawful possession of fi****ms.
✅ Police also recovered a suspected stolen vehicle during an operation against fleeing IPOB/ESN elements.
🔹 Status: SCID Abakaliki Investigating.

15. LAGOS STATE (31st July, 2026): ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS ARRESTED
✅ Two armed robbery suspects arrested during routine patrol.
✅ One locally-made Dane gun and three live cartridges recovered.
🔹 Status: SCID Panti Investigating.

16. OGUN STATE (31st July–1st August, 2026): SEVENTEEN CULTISTS ARRESTED / STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED
✅ Seventeen suspected cultists arrested during a raid on an initiation gathering.
✅ One firearm recovered from the suspects.
✅ Detectives also recovered a stolen Toyota Camry.
🔹 Status: SCID Eleweran Investigating.

17. EKITI STATE (1st August, 2026): SIX CULTISTS ARRESTED
✅ Six suspected cultists arrested following a raid on a secret cult gathering.
✅ Vehicle and several incriminating exhibits recovered.
✅ Investigation continues to apprehend fleeing suspects.
🔹 Status: SCID Ado-Ekiti Investigating.

BREAKING:

A fire incident occurred this morning at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The FAAN Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation.

There have been no reported casualties or loss of life.
