This is actually making me so emotional 😩
A young man lured his own friend to a hospital, told him maybe say dem wan do checkup and before the guy knew what was happening one of his kidneys was removed and sold for ₦7 million.
Your friend. The same friend you eat with, gist with, call brother.
The worst part? the same friend had already sold his OWN kidney before for the same ₦7 million. So after he finished selling his own, he now turned to selling his friend's own to collect another 7 million.
Friendship don turn to organ business.
You think say na only Yahoo boys dey dupe person? Your own padi fit carry you go hospital go sell your kidney.
And that doctor wey do the operation? He is not a doctor, he is a butcher with certificate. Because how will you remove a young man's kidney without proper consent, without family just because his friend brought him?
Imagine waking up from hospital bed and discovering one kidney is gone because your friend sold you.
In this Nigeria, fear friends pass enemies. Enemy dey far but friend dey carry you go hospital.
Please, if your friend suddenly says "let's go to hospital for general checkup" and you did not complain of any sickness, run 🏃♀️
WHY IS KIDNEY DISEASE RISING SO FAST?
Let’s be honest with each other❤️
Ten years ago, we didn’t hear about kidney problems like this. Now almost every clinic, every ward, every family seems to know someone who is on dialysis or managing kidney disease. So what changed? Why are our kidneys struggling more today?
The truth is, kidney disease is not coming alone. It is following other problems that have become common in our lives.
First, high blood pressure. Many of us walk around with BP that is not checked. Stress, lack of sleep, too much salt in our food, and not taking medication properly. When blood pressure stays high year after year, it beats on the tiny blood vessels inside the kidney until they can no longer filter well.
Second, diabetes. Our food has changed. More sugary drinks, more processed food, less movement. Blood sugar that stays high quietly damages the kidney filters. And because diabetes often doesn’t cause pain in the beginning, people only find out when damage has already started.
Third, drugs and herbal mixtures. Painkillers are useful, but taking them anyhow, especially the ones we buy over the counter every week, can hurt the kidneys. And some herbal concoctions are very strong. When they are not guided by a trained person, they can poison the same organs that are supposed to clean our blood.
Then there is delay. In Nigeria, many people wait until they are very sick before they go to the hospital. Swelling has started. Breathing is hard. By then, the kidneys have been crying for help for a long time. Early testing could have caught it, but fear, cost, and “it will go” kept people away.
We also don’t drink enough water. Dehydration, heat, and holding urine for long hours because of work all add stress to the kidneys. Little things, but they pile up.
The sad part is this: kidney disease grows quietly. But the good part is this: most of the causes above can be managed.
We can check our BP. We can check our sugar. We can drink water. We can take drugs only when needed and with guidance. We can go for a simple urine and blood test once a year. These small actions are the reason kidney disease is not rising as fast in places where people are aware.
Your kidneys are not asking for much. Just attention, before it is too late.
If this opened your eyes, share it. Someone’s BP or sugar needs to be checked this week❤️

WHAT IS KIDNEY DISEASE?
Today Let’s talk like people🥰❤️
You have two kidneys in your body. They are about the size of your fist, and they sit quietly on both sides of your lower back. Every single day, without rest, they clean your blood. They remove waste. They balance water and salt. They help control your blood pressure.
In short, your kidneys are your body’s filter.
So what happens when the filter gets damaged?
That is kidney disease.
Kidney disease is simply when your kidneys can no longer do their job well. Waste that should leave the body starts to stay inside. Water and salt that should be balanced begin to go haywire. Over time, this affects how your whole body feels and functions.
In Nigeria today, two things are causing this most: high blood pressure and diabetes. When blood pressure stays high for years, it damages the tiny filters inside the kidney. When blood sugar stays high, it also injures those same small vessels. Other things add to it too — taking painkillers anyhow, using herbal mixtures without guidance, infections, and waiting too long before going to the hospital.
Here is the part that worries me as a nurse. Early kidney disease does not shout. There is usually no pain. No fever. You can feel fine while damage is happening quietly. That is why we call it a silent disease. By the time some people notice swelling, extreme tiredness, or changes in how they urinate, the kidneys have already been struggling for a long time.
But this is not a hopeless story.
Kidney disease can be tested with a simple blood and urine test. Early stages can be managed with the right food, the right medications, and better daily habits. And most importantly, it can be prevented.
How? By knowing your blood pressure and sugar and keeping them under control. By drinking enough water. By being careful with drugs and not mixing things anyhow. By eating less salt and more real food. By checking in with your doctor once a year, especially if you have BP, diabetes, or a family history.
Your kidneys work for you every day.
Maybe it’s time we start working for them too.
If this helped you, share it. Someone needs to hear it today.
Next, we’ll talk about why kidney disease is rising so fast.
Dear You: There Is Life After you decide not to do drvgs again ❤️
Dear Friend,
If you’re reading this and you’re tired. Tired of the cycle. Tired of hiding. Tired of starting over...
I see you.
Recovery is not perfect people only.
Recovery is for people who said _"I’m done"_ one day and took one small step.
It starts like this:
1. Admit it:"I need help and that’s okay"
2. Talk to someone:Doctor, nurse, counselor, trusted person. You don’t have to do this alone
3. One day at a time: Don’t fight "forever". Fight today.
4. Replace, don’t just remove: New habits, new people, new coping tools
5. Forgive yourself: Your past is a chapter, not your whole book
Truth: People have come out of it. People are rebuilding. People are healing.
And you can too.
Your future is not cancelled. It’s just waiting for you to choose it.
If you need help, reach out today. DM me. Talk to a health worker.
You’re not alone. I’m rooting for you.

DEAR FRIEND🤗, THAT COMBO CAN SEND YOU TO HOSPITAL
A NOTE ABOUT DRUG INTERACTIONS❤️🤍
I know how it starts.
Boss, my head is paining me. Take 2 paracetamol and wash it with beer, it will work faster.
"You’re on antibiotics? Ah just skip today’s dose since you’re going to a party".
_"Take this energy drink with your tablets so you won’t sleep in class."_
It sounds normal. People do it every day.
But can we talk for 2 minutes?
THIS IS WHAT REALLY HAPPENS WHEN YOU MIX THINGS
Your body is not a dustbin. It’s a lab.
Some drugs fight each other.
You take medicine to heal, but the other thing you mixed with it cancels it. So you suffer twice and spend double money.
Some drugs multiply each other.
Alcohol + sleeping tablets doesn’t mean "double sleep". It can mean "too much sleep" - drowsiness, slow breathing, dizziness.
Some drugs create new problems.
Painkillers + alcohol = stress on the body
Antibiotics + alcohol = medicine won’t work + nausea
Cough syrup with codeine + other painkillers = too much sedation
You went in to treat 1 problem.
You came out with 3 new problems.
THE 4 RULES TO KEEP YOU SAFE📌
1. TAKE ONLY WHAT WAS PRESCRIBED
The right drug. The right dose. The right days. Don’t add, don’t subtract.
2. ALCOHOL AND MEDICATION DON’T MIX
Unless your doctor specifically said it’s okay, don’t. That "one bottle" can turn your medicine to poison.
3. TELL YOUR HEALTH WORKER EVERYTHING
Prescription drugs, over-the-counter, herbs, supplements, even that "tea" your aunty gave you.
We’re not judging. We need the full gist to help you properly.
4. WHEN IN DOUBT, ASK
2 minutes at the pharmacy counter can save you 2 months in hospital.
Read the leaflet. Call your pharmacist. DM your nurse 😊
I’m not here to shame you.
If you’ve been mixing things and you’re scared now, breathe.
The best time to stop is now. The second best time is today.
Talk to a doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. No judgment. Just help.
You deserve to heal, not to create new problems for yourself.
Your health is not for "experiment".
Your body is not for "test and see".
Ask first. Stay safe. Protect the future you.
Drop a ❤️ if you learned something new.
Tag someone who needs to see this. You might save a life.
I’m your Nurse. I’m rooting for you 💪
Never seek revenge.
Rotten fruit will fall by itself.
