Allow us to reintroduce ourselves

For the past few years, this team has been working tirelessly to grow our organisation and raise awareness about dementia in Zambia. From the time of our founding by Anderson Simfukwe in Nakonde, Zambia, to today, with members across the country and across borders, our growth has only been possible through the support and contributions of many others to grow Alzheimers Disease and Related Dementias in Zambia - ADDIZ.

As we prepare to hold our elective Annual General Meeting this year were the opportunity will be open for registered members of ADDIZ to take up leadership roles, we begin our Road to AGM 2026 campaign were we will introduce you to the various roles in ADDIZ and how you can be a part of dementia awareness and advocacy in Zambia.

Whether you are a student, a person living with dementia, a caregiver, or an educator, there is a role for you. As part of the ADDIZ board, as a volunteer, and as a dementia ambassador. Keep your eyes on our page to learn more and find the role that best fits you.

Iyom Josephine Anenih was Nigeria's Minister of Women Affairs and Social Welfare (2010-2011). The death of his younger brother from Alzheimer's Disease motivated her to establish the Alzheimer's Disease Foundation in Amawbia, Anambra State of Nigeria.
The foundation has carried out many dementia awareness and screening activities among the elderly population. It has also collaborated with the Alzheimer's Disease Association of Nigeria (ADAN) and lecturers of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka in implementation of research.
