RECORD PAYOUT: FIFA has confirmed the full prize money breakdown for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with champions Spain receiving a record $51 million after defeating Argentina in the final.

Runners-up Argentina will earn $34 million, while England receive $30 million for finishing third and France take home $28 million after ending the tournament in fourth place.

The 2026 tournament, hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, featured a record $871 million prize fund for the expanded 48-team competition — more than $100 million higher than previous World Cup payouts.

All participating teams received financial support from FIFA, including a guaranteed $12.5 million each, made up of $10 million for participation and $2.5 million for preparation costs. Teams earned additional payments depending on how far they progressed.

🏆 Champions (Spain) — $51 million

FIFA also covered key expenses for participating teams, including travel, accommodation, meals and official transportation during the tournament.

The prize money is paid directly to each country’s football federation, not players. How the funds are shared is determined by each federation’s own agreements and policies with their teams.
