The most obvious way to determine if hair is real or fake is to conduct a microscopic test to find out the chemical composition of the extension hair. However, since most of us do not a microscope readily available or have a degree in forensic science this is probably not a suitable option.

The textile industry conducts what is called a “fiber burn” test to identify the content. The same test can be done on hair.

1. Remove single strands of hair from different areas of the questionable unit.
2. Hold a single strand with tweezers and use a lighter to keep a steady flame.
Note: Do not use matches as they will mask the odor.
3. Pay attention to the odor, ember and flame.

Human hair is a protein fiber that burns with a small flickering flame and will not continue to burn unless you hold the flame continuously to the strand. It burns briefly with an orange flame and then chars leaving a dark ash that turns to powder when crushed. The odor is of burning flesh or burning feathers.

Synthetic fibers are either nylon or polyester and each burns quite differently.

Nylon fibers burn briefly but rapidly and then melts. It has a sparkling flame that has a blue base and orange tip. The ash is like hard amber beads. The odor smells like boiling green vegetables or burning celery.

Polyester fibers burn and melt quite rapidly at the same time. It has an orange sputtery flame with black smoke and gives off a sweetish odor. The ash drips and is sticky to the touch before forming into hard black beads.
Remember to burn test each fiber separately as your piece may contain a blend of both human hair and synthetic

Virgin Hair Care

It needs to be washed regularly and nourished.

1-Wash them every 7/10 days (even when fixed) with good 2 in1 shampoo ( shampoo+conditioner) and dry very well under sun or dryer.

2-Comb with big comb, from tips to roots, when fixed,comb part by part to de-tangle the roots.

3-Use original oil ( beware of fake !)
Apply small amount of oil on your fingers,run your fingers through the hair from the tip then on the whole hair.
Finish with a general massage on all the lengths. Do this every 2/3 days.

Shea butter can also be used to nourish and protect tips ( not for the lengths : its too oily, and can cause breakages)

WASH AND RINSE OUT WITH WARM WATER

5-For more or better waves and curls, roll-set and dry, using only water.

You can also plate the hair in the evening and loose it in the morning to make beautiful waves.

6-No SERUM should be used on any virgin natural hair!

Serum is made for other low quality hair extensions to give a false shiny finish in order to look like the real natural hair.

Serum will prevent the hair from breathing, and make it to break out, the hair will stick on each other, and won't be flowing like natural ones.

7-To dye or change the color, it is strictly recommended to make it done by a professional !

REMEMBER: If your natural hair is damaged, it will grow again, but your brazilian hair will never grow again and your money has gone !!

The Best Way To Care For Your Brazilian Hair

This rubbing action and the resultant friction will loosen dirt, product residue and dandruff which can then be rinsed away. Condition / Hydrate: Conditioning the hair is vital to its maintenance. After you have shampooed and thoroughly rinsed your hair apply a generous amount of conditioner to the hair. Gently comb hair with a wide tooth comb, to assure even coverage. Rinse conditioner from your hair with warm water and gently towel or air dry.

Mid Week Wash: Make sure to Shampoo your hair at least once a week. If you lead an active lifestyle, use excessive product or feel your hair had become dry substitute conditioner for shampoo during your weekly wash. Wash your hair in a downward motion, working conditioner from the top down in one motion.

Please remember that many shampoos and conditioners contain harsh, drying sulfates that are extremely damaging to hair. Detergents found in shampoos make curly hair frizzy and uncooperative. Conditioner can be used sufficiently to clean the hair. Also, more gentle shampoos that contain mild cleansers (i.e. cocamidopropyl betaine or coco betaine) can be used occasionally or more often for wavier hair types. Pick an appropriate product for the care of your new hair. Use a good quality shampoo, your stylist can advise you what product is best for your hair.

Styling: Always keep your extensions tangle free. Brush or comb gently and avoid any excess tension. Always comb or brush hair from the bottom up, small sections at a time. The more careful you treat your extensions the longer they will last. Support your attachment when brushing or combing your hair.

Hair Care Products: Use a good conditioner to keep your hair soft. Avoid hair products that contain alcohol which can make the hair very dry. Also remember that many styling products can cause build up over time. It is recommended that a deep cleansing shampoo be used once or twice a month to remove build-up. Build-up can make the hair dry and can cause tangling. Use moisturizers to avoid this problem.

Heat / Styling Tools: Heat is your hair's biggest enemy. The more you use on it, the shorter the life span of your hair. Use heat in moderation. Do not use high temperatures. High temperatures can damage the hair, including permanently altering the hair texture.

Please note that, if you perm, tint, bleach or cellophane the hair, you do it at your own risk! If you must chemically alter it, then be sure to do a test strand first. This will allow you to test how the hair will hold up to the chemicals.

More importantly, read the labels of all hair products carefully. Do not use any of the hair products recommended if you are allergic to the product or to any ingredient in the hair care product.
