π§ β¨ Types of Paralysis Explained
Paralysis occurs when there is a loss of muscle function in part of the body, often due to injury to the nervous system, spinal cord damage, or certain neurological conditions. The type of paralysis depends on the area of the body affected:
πΈ Monoplegia β Paralysis of a single limb (either an arm or a leg).
πΈ Hemiplegia β Paralysis affecting one side of the body (left or right).
πΈ Diplegia β Paralysis of the same area on both sides of the body, usually the arms or legs.
πΈ Paraplegia β Paralysis of both legs and the lower half of the body, often due to spinal cord injury.
πΈ Quadriplegia β Paralysis affecting all four limbs (both arms and both legs) along with parts of the torso.
Understanding these types can help in early recognition, treatment, and rehabilitation for individuals living with paralysis. ππͺ
