Prince Segun went to a studio for a birthday shout-out with his two close friends, who are artists too.
After everything, they said it's late and couldn't go because their place is far, so they agreed to stay back and spend the night in the studio.
They all slept and didn't not wake up again in the morning, like they were found deæd.
Rúmors has it that there were p0isoñed, since they were not the only one that spent the night inside the studio room.
Me: Sleeping in studio rooms that' has padded walls with no window or ventilation is deæd on arrival, it better you sleep in the toilet than sleeping inside the vocal room.

This story sweet me so I decided to share it with you guys
I danced at my husband’s side chick’s naming ceremony. I sprayed them money. I ate the Jollof rice. But inside my bag, I had a gift that would end the party.
They say "Fear Women," but honestly? You should fear a calm woman.
My name is Adesuwa. I have been married to Kunle for six years. Six years of "God will do it." Six years of his mother calling me a "man-woman" because I couldn't give them a child. I took all the insults. I drank the bitter herbs. I went for the prayers.
So, when Kunle walked into our house in Magodo three months ago with a young, pregnant girl named T**i, I didn't scream.
"Adesuwa," he said, puffing his chest like a peacock. "This is T**i. She is carrying my son. Since you have refused to give me an heir, T**i will live here. She will give me what you could not."
I looked at T**i. She was young, maybe 22. She was rubbing her stomach and chewing gum, looking at me like I was a maid.
"You will cook for her," Kunle commanded. "You will clean for her. She is carrying the King of this house."
My friends told me to leave. They told me to poison the girl. They told me to burn the house down. I told them, "Calm down. Let us watch the movie."
I became the perfect fool. I cooked T**i’s peppersoup. I washed her clothes. When her feet swelled, I massaged them.
Kunle was laughing at me. "You see?" he told his friends over beer on weekends. "A woman who knows her place is a blessing. Adesuwa knows she has expired."
T**i gave birth last week. A bouncing baby boy. Kunle almost ran mad with joy. He bought a cow. He bought Aso-ebi for the whole street. He named the boy "Babatunde," Father has returned.
The Naming Ceremony was yesterday. The compound was full. Kunle’s mother was dancing, casting bad eyes at me. "The barren tree has been shamed!" she sang in Yoruba.
When it was time for the gifts, I stood up. I was wearing my best gold jewelry. I looked expensive. I walked to the high table where Kunle and T**i were sitting with the baby.
I picked up the microphone. The DJ stopped the music.
"My husband," I said, smiling. "Congratulations on your heir."
Kunle grinned. "Thank you, Adesuwa. I hope you learn from T**i."
"I have a special gift for the baby," I said. I pulled out a large, brown envelope from my bag.
"Six years ago," I started, my voice clear, "Before we got married, we did some tests. You didn't go to collect your results because you were busy. You asked me to collect them."
Kunle frowned. "What are you talking about?"
"I collected them, Kunle. But I hid them because I loved you. I didn't want to bruise your ego."
I opened the envelope and pulled out a framed document. It was a medical report from LUTH.
"This is a diagnosis of Azoos***mia," I announced.
The crowd went silent.
"It means 'Zero S***m Count,' Kunle. You had Mumps when you were 12 years old. It destroyed your factory. You have been shooting blank bullets since 2018."
I turned to T**i. Her face had lost all color. She looked like a ghost.
"So, my darling husband," I continued, "If you have zero s***m? And T**i has a baby?"
I looked at Kunle’s best friend, Jide, who was sitting in the front row. Jide was sweating. He was shaking.
"Maybe Uncle Jide can explain why the baby has his nose?"
The silence in the hall was heavy. You could hear a pin drop.
Then Kunle screamed. It was the scream of a dying animal. He grabbed the paper from me. He read it. He looked at T**i. He looked at Jide.
I dropped the microphone. Gbim.
"I have packed my bags," I said off-mic. "The house belongs to my father, so you and your 'heir' have 2 hours to leave."
I walked out of the gate while Kunle was breaking bottles on Jide’s head.
I am currently in a hotel, eating grilled fish and drinking cold fearless. My phone has been ringing non-stop. His family is begging. They say I shouldn't have disgraced him in public.
But tell me the truth. Did I go too far? Or did I serve him the breakfast he ordered?
Drop a "🔥" in the comments if you would have done the same!

"Aunty why did you ask me to bring my mom's sanitary pads to school?" Little Sera asked her class teacher looking scared.
"Sh, sh, reduce your voice. Hope you didn't tell your mom anything about the pad?" Teacher Caro asked little Serah?
"Yes Aunty, I kept it back in her cupboard just like you told me, she doesn't know what happened." Little Sera said smiling.
Meanwhile, Esther, Sera’s mother, was at home when her period suddenly came out. She rushed to the cupboard, took one of the pads, and was about to fix it on her pant—unaware that her pad had already been used for a ritual by her daughter’s school teacher.
At the forest behind the school, Teacher Caro and the school principal, Mr. Eze, stood with a grass in his mouth, performing strange rituals.
“She’s about to wear the pad,” Mr. Eze said, turning to the oracle. “As usual, I’m here to give you a woman whose child is in Class 3. Take her soul and make our school stronger. Make it the most famous school… let rich parents rush to us.”
The flames from the candle flickered. Teacher Caro closed her eyes, shivering, feeling the power of what was about to happen.
Back at home, Esther wore the pad and continued her cleaning.
Ahhh!!!!
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her stomach. She screamed, “Ahh!” and fell to the ground. Bl00d was coming fast.
At first, she thought it was just her period, but soon she realized it was too much. Fear gripped her chest.
Just then, her daughter Sera came back from school. She stopped at the doorway, eyes wide with horror.
“Mom! What is—?” she cried.
Esther couldn’t speak. Her body felt heavy and weak.
Just then Little Sera remembered the pad she had given her Aunty.
“Mom, I want to tell you something!” Sera shouted, her little voice trembling as she saw her mother soaked in bl00d.
“My dear… later, please,” Esther whispered weakly in pain. She thought Sera was trying to make silly jokes.
With all her strength, Esther stood up, legs shaking, and started walking toward the chemist near the house.
At the clinic, the nurse helped her sit down. Esther was breathing heavily. "Nurse I'm dying" Bl00d was still coming. Too much bl00d.
“This is not normal,” the nurse said with a worried face.
Just then, Little Sera rushed in, crying.
“Mommy!” she shouted and hugged her.
Esther looked at her daughter’s face
“Sera… what happened,” Esther said weakly.
Sera started crying loudly.
“Mommy, please don’t beat me,” she cried. “My teacher said I should bring your p@d to school. She said it was for dancing competition. She gave me t0ys. She told me not to tell you.”
Esther felt cold.
Sera continued crying and explained everything. How she took the pad. How the teacher collected it. How they later told her to return it to the cupboard. Esther burst into tears.
That was when her husband, Mr. Daniel, entered the clinic. He had just returned from a journey.
“What is happening here?” he asked in fear.
Esther pointed at Sera. “Ask your daughter,” she cried.
Sera repeated everything again.
Mr. Daniel’s face changed. Anger filled his eyes.
“This is bl00d money,” he said. “They want to k!ll my wife.”
Without wasting time, he called the police.
Within minutes, police officers followed him straight to Bright Disc Model School. They forced the principal to talk. Under pressure, Mr. Eze tried to run, but he was caught.
He led them to the forest behind the school.
There, candles were burning. Strange items were on the ground. Teacher Caro was there too.
They were exposed.
The principal broke down and confessed.
“We use parents whose children are in Class 3,” he cried. “Their bl00d makes our school grow. Our church becomes popular. Rich parents come. That is how we succeed.”
The police arrested them immediately and the school was burnt down.
Days later, Esther recovered. She stood in church with her family, thanking God for saving her life. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she hugged her daughter.
“My child,” she said gently, “never listen to strangers again. Always tell me everything.”
Always check your child’s school bag.
Always ask questions.
And remember—repeated events like death are never ordinary.
Hope you learnt something from this story as a parent or a sibling to Young children?

"But Aunty, why did you ask me to bring my mom's pads to school?" 5 yr old Sera asked her class teacher shaking in fear.
"Sh, sh, reduce your voice, nobody must know, this is our little secret ok, hope these are the pads your mom will use next month?" Teacher Caro asked little Serah?
"Yes Aunty, I st0le it from mom's cupboard last night, Just like you told me to do." Little Sera said smiling.
Teacher Caro looked at the pads in her hands and whispered , "IT'S TIME!! REST IN PEACE MRS. ESTHER.
Meanwhile Mrs. Esther, Sera's mother was at home arranging the room, unknown to her the worst was about to happen to her.
HOW IT STARTED...
Every year, there must be a BURIAL POSTER of a parent in front of the school gate, and each of them that died each year had a child in Class 3.
Nobody noticed this strange death happening at Bright Disc Model School every year, until Esther's child, whose name was Sera entered Class 3.
Esther never knew what was happening in the school. She believed since it was a school owned by a Well-known church, nothing bad could happen and the deaths were normal deaths.
That day she dropped her 5-year-old daughter and only child in school. That was Sera's first day in Class 3.
But the way the class teacher looked at her made her heart jump.
“Is everything okay?” Esther asked Aunty Caro.
“Yes ma, but I want to ask you something,” She said
“Have you done your menstruation for this month?”
Esther was shocked.
“How? Why are you asking about my menstrual period? What’s wrong?”
“Nothing ma, don’t worry,” Aunty Caro smiled and took Sera inside.
Esther stood there for a while trying to understand what was going on.
Just then her eyes met with the burial poster on the school gate, the parent Mrs. Richard that died last year. This wasn’t Esther’s first time seeing that poster, but this time she felt cold shivers down her spine. Still she brushed it off and went home.
Immediately the bell rang for closure, Teacher Caro called Little Sera aside.
“Sera baby, you want to participate in the dancing competition, right?”
“Yes aunty,” Sera said smiling innocently.
“Very good. If you reach home, ask mommy where she keeps her pads and bring it to school tomorrow. Don’t tell her. Take it when she’s sleeping, ok?”
“Okay ma,” Sera said smiling.
When it was School-closing time, Esther came and took her daughter home unaware of what was happening.
Sera never told her mom about what her aunty said.
That Night, while her mum was asleep, Little Sera secretly went to her mom’s cupboard and took her mom’s pad that she was supposed to use the next month.
The next morning as usual, Esther took her daughter to school. She didn’t check her school bag.
When she dropped her and left, the teacher pulled Sera aside, took the pad from her and gave her a t0y as a reward, telling her never to tell anyone what happened.
Teacher Caro took the pad to Mr. Eze. The school principal feared and respected by all.
He smiled, put some grasses in his mouth and turned to the dark oracle hidden at the back of his office whispering, "AS USUAL, I’M HERE TO GIVE YOU A WOMAN WHOSE CHILD IS IN CLASS 3. TAKE HER SOUL IMMEDIATELY SHE WEAR THIS PAD AND MAKE OUR SCHOOL STRONGER. MAKE IT THE MOST FAMOUS SCHOOL… LET RICH PARENTS RUSH TO US."
When he was done, He handed Teacher Caro some cash and gave the pad back to her. “Tell the girl to return it back.”
“Okay sir,” Teacher Caro said.
She gave the pad to Sera.
“Dear, take it back and keep it in the cupboard where you took it from, okay? Don’t tell mommy or else she will flog you.”
“Okay ma,” Sera said smiling.
Esther came and took her daughter home as usual. When she went to cook, Sera quietly kept the pad back in the cupboard.
That night, Esther touched her pants.
“Oh no… my period is out,” she said as she rushed toward the cupboard to take one of the pads, unknown to her those were no longer ordinary pads

"Hide inside this deep freezer. Your mummy is coming to beat you with a cane. Don’t come out until I open the door,” Aunty Chidera, the housemaid, whispered to Junior
*
Chidera fell to her knees, crying, holding the bag of gold up.
"Take it! Take the gold! Take everything! Just let me go!"
The leader of the ritualists kicked the bag away.
"We don't eat gold here," he said, sharpening his machete. "We need fresh bl00d."
Chidera screamed. She remembered Gloria. She remembered Junior.
"I am sorry!" she wailed. "God, I am sorry! I k|ll£d my Madam's son! Please don't let me die like this!"
The man raised the machete high.
Chidera closed her eyes, waiting for the end.
VROOOOM!
Suddenly, blinding lights cut through the darkness.
WEE-OOO! WEE-OOO!
A Police Patrol Van jumped out of the bush path, sirens blaring.
"POLICE! NO MOVE!"
Gunshots rang out. KPOW! KPOW!
The ritualists dropped their machetes and ran into the thick forest. The driver abandoned his car and fled.
The police officers jumped down, guns ready. They saw Chidera kneeling on the ground, shaking, with the bag of stolen gold beside her.
An officer walked up to her and shone his torch in her face.
"You are lucky, young girl," he said. "We have been tracking this gang for weeks."
He looked at the bag. He opened it and saw the gold. He looked back at Chidera.
"But wait... where did a young girl like you get this kind of gold?"
Chidera looked at the officer. She looked at the gold. She looked at the handcuffs on his belt.
She realized she had been saved from death, only to fall into judgment.
*
While Chidera was being handcuffed in the bush, death was knocking at Gloria's door.
Chief Philip, Gloria's husband had returned but could not find his wife.
He noticed that the kitchen was strange because it was locked. Gloria never locks the kitchen.
He stood at the kitchen door. He had his key in the keyhole.
GRITY-GRITY.
Inside the kitchen, Gloria squeezed Junior tight, waiting for the explosion.
Philip turned the key.
CLICK.
The lock opened.
But Philip paused. He didn't push the door.
He sniffed the air near the doorframe.
Sniff. Sniff.
"Gas?"
His eyes widened in horror. He dropped the box of pizza he had bought for his wife.
"GLORIA!" he roared.
He knew that if he pushed that door open, the friction of the hinges or the rush of fresh oxygen mixing with the gas could cause a spark.
He left the door. He ran to the main switchboard outside the house.
PAM.
He killed the electricity. The house went dark. The deep freezer motor died completely. No spark.
He ran back to the kitchen door. He took a deep breath, covered his nose with his shirt, and kicked the door open with one powerful blow.
GBAM!
He rushed into the poisonous fog.
He saw his wife and son slumped on the floor.
"Jesus!"
He grabbed Gloria with one hand and Junior with the other. He dragged them out into the compound, away from the gas
They collapsed on the grass.
"Gloria! Junior! Talk to me!" Philip shouted, shaking them.
Gloria coughed. Cough! Cough!
She took a deep breath of fresh air. "Junior..." she gasped.
Junior coughed too. He started crying.
"Thank you, Jesus," Philip whispered, tears rolling down his face. "Thank you."
THE NEXT MORNING - THE POLICE STATION
It was a day of reckoning.
Mrs. Gloria and Junior had been treated at the hospital and discharged. They walked into the police station with Chief Philip.
Behind the counter, sitting on the cold floor of the cell, was Chidera.
When she saw Gloria, she burst into tears.
"Madam! I am sorry! Please forgive me!" Chidera begged, clutching the iron bars.
"It was the devil! I don't know what came over me!"
The DPO (Divisional Police Officer) placed the bag of gold on the counter.
"We found this with her," the officer said. "She confessed everything. How she broke your safe. How she locked you inside."
Philip looked at Chidera with fire in his eyes.
"You ate my food," Philip said, his voice shaking with anger. "We paid your school fees. We treated you like a daughter. And this is how you pay us? By trying to k!|| my wife and son?"
"I am sorry, Sir! Please don't send me to prison!" Chidera cried. "I will serve you forever! Just forgive me!"
Gloria looked at Chidera. She looked at the tears.
Then she looked at Junior, who was holding her leg, afraid of "Aunty Chidera."
Gloria stepped forward.
"I forgive you, Chidera," Gloria said softly.
Chidera’s eyes lit up. "Thank you, Ma! Thank you!"
"I forgive you," Gloria continued, "so that God will not hold anger in my heart. But forgiveness does not mean freedom from consequences."
She turned to the DPO.
"Officer."
"Yes, Madam."
"She tried to commit murd£r. She stole millions. Let the law take its full course."
"NO! MADAM PLEASE!" Chidera screamed as the officers unlocked the cell to take her to the Black Maria van.
"I AM SORRY! JUNIOR TELL YOUR MUMMY TO FORGIVE ME!"
But Junior just looked away.
They dragged her out. The heavy iron door of the prison van slammed shut.
GBAM.
As the van drove away to the maximum security prison, Gloria hugged her husband and her son.
They were alive. They were together. And the evil in their home had been swept away.

"Hide inside this deep freezer. Your mummy is coming to beat you with a cane. Don’t come out until I open the door,” Aunty Chidera, the housemaid, whispered to Junior
*
While Mrs. Gloria was fighting for her son’s life inside the gas-filled kitchen, Chidera was outside, breathing fresh air.
She stood by the gate, her heart beating fast, but not out of guilt. It was out of excitement.
She clutched her Ghana-Must-Go bag tight.
Inside was the jewelry box she had stolen from the safe. Gold chains. Diamond rings.
Wristwatches. Millions of Naira.
"Finally," she whispered, looking back at the house one last time. "Bye-bye to poverty. Bye-bye to housemaid work."
She didn't care that she had locked a mother and child in a death trap. She didn't care about the gas. She only cared about Lagos.
She ran to the express road and waved down a taxi.
A dark Toyota Camry stopped. The glass was tinted.
"Where?" the driver asked. He was a bald man with a deep scar on his neck.
"Lagos Park. Be fast," Chidera said, jumping into the back seat.
The car zoomed off.
Chidera relaxed. She opened her bag slightly to peek at the gold. It was shining. She smiled a wicked smile.
"I am a big girl now," she thought.
But she forgot one thing: Wickedness is like a boomerang. It always comes back.
*
Ten minutes later, the journey changed.
The driver suddenly slowed down near a thick forest area that they kept calling the "Evil Forest."
He turned the steering wheel sharply to the left, driving off the tarred road into a rough, sandy path.
Gidigbo. Gidigba. The car bounced.
Chidera sat up. "Driver? Why are you passing here? This is not the way to the park."
The driver did not answer. He just kept looking forward, his eyes cold.
"I am talking to you!" Chidera shouted, her arrogance turning to fear. "Turn back! I don't like this road!"
The driver remained silent. His hand moved to the door control panel.
CLICK.
The sound of the central lock echoed in the silent car.
Chidera’s blood ran cold. She grabbed the door handle and pulled. It was locked.
"Jesus!" she screamed. "Open this door! One Chance! Help!"
The driver laughed. "Madam, keep quiet. We have arrived."
The car stopped in a dark clearing in the middle of the bush.
Two men emerged from the trees. They were shirtless, wearing red charms around their waists and holding sharp machetes.
The driver turned to Chidera with a demonic grin.
" Immediately I sight you our long Juju just they signal us"
They dragged her out of the car.
"Welcome to your final bus stop. You wanted to run away with all that money, but you have landed in the land here."
Chidera was frantic and wee-wee on herself.
Meanwhile, Gloria and Junior were still trapped.

FINAL CHAPTER 6
What's do you mean I'm responsible for the death of your father and siblings? Are you okay? Your mum said you are a witch. You killed them, so why are you accusing me now? Oluchi said, pretending.
Shut up, you evil woman. My daughter is not a witch. I was just blind to see that you are responsible for what happened and I was here accusing my innocent daughter, but I'm assuring you that you will pay for this. You must surely pay.
I don't know what you two are talking about. I'm confused right now and dare you lie against me? Oluchi said, still pretending to be ignorant of the accusations.
Suddenly a voice drew attention. My king, I was communicating with the gods when you sent for me. I thought it was something important. I want to return to the shrine. I can't keep the gods waiting, the Ezemou said.
You go nowhere, not until you confess your sins. Tell the people what they need to know. Tell them you and Oluchi are responsible for the death of my father, Rita said angrily.
Everyone shouted, enough of the argument. Let's handle things carefully. Little child, watch your mouth. Don't speak to the eyes of the gods like that, the king said. With due respect my king, he and Oluchi are responsible for the death of my father and siblings, Rita said boldly again. Little child, do you know what you are saying? the king asked surprisingly.
How dare you lie against me? Do you want the gods to strike you dead? You can't do anything to me and the gods won't strike me, rather they will strike you, Rita replied angrily. Enough everyone. Rita, can you tell us what makes you think Oluchi and the Ezemou are responsible for your father and siblings' death? the king asked.
Yes my king, Rita replied and told the king everything her father told her in the world beyond. Some murmured that it is not true. Of course it can't be true, we only heard that in tales. It can never happen in reality, some villagers said. Little child, how do you intend to show us evidence that shows they are responsible? the king asked, while Ezemou interrupted him.
My king, why are you even listening to this little child? It seems she is having mental problems. She needs solution, the Ezemou said. It is you that has problems and you will never see the solution. My king, I want Oluchi to swear to our deity that she isn't responsible. As for the Ezemou, he should wait for his judgement, Rita said.
Me swear? For what? For who? Who do you think you are? Little child of yesterday accusing me? I will not swear for anyone.
Shut up woman. She might be a little child but she is seeking justice for her loved ones, and justice must be served. The life of three people is not something to joke with. When her mother accused her she swore but she didn't die because she is innocent.
So even if she accuses 50 people in this village they must swear to prove their innocence? You must swear to our deity tomorrow. I have spoken, the king said.
You must swear, you must swear, you must swear. The king has spoken, the crowd shouted.
Thank you my king for not turning your back on us, Rita and her mother said as they fell to their knees to thank him.
Woman stand up. The people we are talking about here are not just your family, they are also my subjects. So it is my right to bring justice for them. Like I said, the swearing will take place under our Iroko tree, the great deity. I order everyone to be present tomorrow by 10:00 AM. You all can leave now. Igweeee, the crowd cheered as they all started leaving to their various houses.
After everyone had left, my king how can you believe what that little child is saying? the Ezemou asked.
Ezemou, I didn't believe what the child said. That is why I asked the woman to swear. If I believed her I would have just told the villagers to burn the woman alive, but I didn't say so because everyone is supposed to be given opportunity to prove their innocence or guilt, the king replied.
But my king, what if everything turns out to be lies?
Then I will know that the little child is lying.
My king, I want you to cancel the swear, the Ezemou said.
Why? Are you scared? No, I can't cancel the swear. I have given my people my word. I can't take it back. I have never in my life done that and I will not start now. Besides, I want justice for my three subjects that lost their lives in a single day.
Because I value the life of my people, the swearing must take place tomorrow. Prepare yourself, the king said.
Alright my king, I will leave now, the Ezemou replied as he walked out of the palace.
On his way he met Oluchi who was hiding in the bush part waiting to speak with him.
Ezemou, I'm scared. What should we do now? Oluchi said.
Why are you scared? Are you asking me? I'm going to swear tomorrow and you know what that means, Oluchi replied, panicking.
You don't have to be scared when you have me here. I'm not the one that will lead the swearing?
Yes you are.
Then leave everything for me. Nothing will happen. I will run it, the Ezemou said. I will make a sacrifice to blindfold the deity tonight so nothing will happen.
Are you sure?
Are you doubting me?
No I'm just asking.
So relax, the Ezemou said. See you tomorrow, he said and left.
God please see me through. I will never do evil again, Oluchi said as she walked home.
Everything they said in the palace you couldn't even utter a word. After all the accusations that were laid against your wife, all you did was stand there drinking like a fool that you are.
Don't you know I'm doing this to help you? Look at how useless you are. I hate the day I met you, Oluchi said angrily to her husband.
If I'm useless to you, I'm not useless to my palm wine. Palm wine or am I useless to you? You can see, he said. No. Please go and let me enjoy my drink, Ekene said as he resumed drinking his palm wine.
I hate you, Oluchi said as she walked out angrily.
In late Ezekiel's house
Mummy, justice will be served for Daddy, brother and sister tomorrow.
You are right my daughter. I can't wait for them to go down with my husband. I'm so proud to have you as a daughter.
But Rita, are you sure of what you said in the palace? one of her uncles who followed them home asked.
Uncle, I'm not lying. You will see it yourself tomorrow. Just wait, Rita said.
Hmm, I don't know that woman could be this wicked. Yes, she is jealous of me and my husband, but she has gone too far. Even if the gods didn't strike her I will personally kill her myself, Mrs Ezekiel said angrily.
THE NEXT DAY
Here comes the next day. Everyone gathered at the Iroko tree where the swearing would take place. Different noises came from the crowd as everyone murmured different opinions. The king raised his hand, ordering silence and everywhere became quiet.
As you all know, today is Oluchi's swearing day to prove her innocence for the accusations laid against her. If she is innocent we will appease her, but if she is guilty judgement will be passed on her. The process can begin, the king said.
Oluchi, come forward, face the Iroko tree and say, Great Iroko, the deity of justice, if I'm responsible for the death of late Ezekiel and his children, strike me dead, the Ezemou said.
Oluchi stepped forward shaking. She faced the Iroko tree and repeated exactly what the Ezemou said.
The gods didn't strike her immediately. They waited for a few more minutes. Nothing happened. My people, I told you I'm innocent, she barely completed the sentence when she started shouting, please wait, I will confess. No don't wait, let me confess, Oluchi said as she fell to her knees confessing.
I, I, I killed them, she stammered, and the crowd shouted abomination. I will confess, please stop flogging me, she said, but no one saw who was flogging her. Confess.
It was jealousy. I was broken. I liked Ezekiel but he never liked me, instead he went for Rita, my childhood friend. I was heartbroken, that is why I did all I did.
The Ezemou gave me a deadly poison. I told him I don't want it to kill them immediately. He should give it five days before the poison carries out its work so that no one will suspect me. I wanted to kill all of them so that their property will belong to my husband and I.
But unfortunately Rita and her mother didn't eat from the food, Oluchi said as she confessed everything she did from beginning to the end. Everyone shook their heads, some in disappointment and some in surprise.
When you brought that food on Christmas day, I was busy cooking. My late husband and my two children had already started complaining of hunger. I just gave them the food to eat first before our own food would be ready. Rita refused to eat, she said she wasn't hungry. So I asked my husband and the children to eat and keep the remaining one for me, but my husband and his love for food, they finished everything. I never knew the food would result to their death.
You are very wicked, but my God will punish you, Mrs Ezekiel said crying.
Woman, how dare you lie against me? the Ezemou said, pretending.
Suddenly a heavy thunder blew and struck both Ezemou and Oluchi dead. They lay there with their eyes open and tongues outside. They are dead. The gods had struck them. Justice has been served.
The crowd cheered.
Woman, I'm so sorry for what happened to you, but glory be to the God of justice. If you ever need anything, anything at all, don't hesitate to come to the palace and ask. Please take heart, I know it is not easy.
And this should be a lesson to you all. Parents must always make deep research before accusing their children or anyone. Don't just conclude. And make sure you stand by your children whenever they need your support. Don't act like Mrs Ezekiel here who accused her daughter for nothing and almost threw her to death, the king said.
Thank you my king. Please my people, my audience that is watching me, forgive me. I know I don't deserve to be called a mother, but temper justice with mercy, Mrs Ezekiel said. My people, those two corpses should be set ablaze and their ashes should be thrown into the evil forest. We will choose another Ezemou at the due time, the king said.
Everyone began to dismiss. The guards and some villagers started gathering firewood to set them ablaze.
Everyone can now leave to their various houses, the king said.
Some stayed back to watch how the two evils were burned.
Mrs Ezekiel and her daughter left with heavy hearts.
25 years later, after Rita graduated, she got married to Prince Uzor. They met in school. Rita became Queen of their land. Her mother never remarried. She was happy but the memory of her late husband and two children remained in her heart.
The tragedy that happened on 30th December 2025 is something unforgettable in the heart of Umoueze.
