BACATMA HONOURS BAUCHI STATE FIRST LADY AND WIFES OF 20 LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN

The Bauchi State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS Tuberculosis/Leprosy and Malaria (BACATMA) in collaboration with its development and health partners has honoured the First Lady of Bauchi State Her Excellency Hajiya Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed and the wifes of the 20 Local Government Chairmen in the State for their commitment to promoting malaria prevention and public health awareness

The investiture ceremony was held as part of efforts to strengthen community engagement and advocacy towards the successful implementation of the 2026 Insecticide Treated Net (ITN) Campaign across Bauchi State

At the ceremony Her Excellency Hajiya Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed was honoured and officially recognised as the NET AMBASSADOR Bauchi State 2026 ITN Campaign

Similarly the wives of the 20 Local Government Chairmen were honoured and recognised as NET ADVOCATES with the responsibility of supporting community mobilisation awareness creation and advocacy for the proper and consistent use of insecticide treated nets

The event was led by the Executive Chairman of BACATMA Dr. Adamu Umar Sambo who commended the First Lady and the wifes of the Local Government Chairmen for accepting to champion the fight against malaria in their respective communities

Dr. Sambo emphasised that the fight against malaria requires strong collaboration between government development partners traditional and community leaders women leaders and the general public

He noted that the appointment of the First Lady as Net Ambassador alongside the wifes of the 20 Local Government Chairmen as Net Advocates will further strengthen the campaign and help take the message of malaria prevention directly to households and communities across the State

The Agency also acknowledged the valuable contributions of its partners in supporting malaria control interventions and strengthening health promotion activities across Bauchi State

BACATMA urged the newly appointed Net Ambassador and Net Advocates to use their positions to encourage families to make proper and consistent use of insecticide treated nets and to support other recommended malaria prevention measures

The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to working with all relevant stakeholders towards reducing the burden of malaria and improving the health and wellbeing of the people of Bauchi State

The Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS Tuberculosis Leprosy and Malaria (BACATMA) Dr. Adamu Sambo has led an advocacy visit to the Emir of Dambam Local Government, Alhaji Bappa Idris as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community support for the 2026 Insecticide Treated Net (ITN) Distribution Campaign across Bauchi State

During the visit Dr. Adamu Sambo highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration with traditional institutions in ensuring that eligible households receive and properly use insecticide-treated nets to protect themselves and their families against malaria

He emphasized that the success of the campaign depends greatly on the active participation of traditional rulers community leaders health workers and residents at the grassroots

Dr. Sambo therefore appealed to the Emirate Council to continue mobilizing communities encouraging residents to participate in the distribution exercise, and promoting the consistent use of ITNs particularly among children under five and pregnant women

In his response the Emir of Dambam Local Government Alhaji Bappa Idris welcomed the advocacy team and expressed his readiness to support the campaign He reaffirmed the traditional institution's commitment to mobilizing communities and working with BACATMA and other stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the 2026 ITN Distribution Campaign

Dr. Adamu Umar Sambo Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS Tuberculosis Leprosy and Malaria (BACATMA) has led an advocacy visit to the Chairman of Ningi Local Government Area Alhaji Yahuza Adamu Haruna (Ajiyan Ningi) as part of preparations for the 2026 Insecticide Treated Nets (ITN) Distribution Campaign

The advocacy visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between BACATMA and the Ningi Local Government Council while mobilising communities across the Local Government Area for the successful implementation of the campaign

During the engagement Dr. Sambo highlighted the importance of malaria prevention and the proper use of Insecticide Treated Nets particularly among pregnant women children under five and other vulnerable members of the community

He called on Alhaji Yahuza Adamu Haruna (Ajiyan Ningi) to support the campaign through effective community mobilisation awareness creation and coordination with ward and community leaders to ensure that eligible households receive and properly use the distributed nets

In his response, the Chairman of Ningi Local Government Area, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu Haruna (Ajiyan Ningi) welcomed the delegation and expressed his commitment to supporting the 2026 ITN Distribution Campaign He assured BACATMA of the Local Government Council’s cooperation and readiness to mobilise residents towards the success of the exercise

DR. ADAMU SAMBO LEADS ADVOCACY VISIT TO BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND OVER 2026 ITN DISTRIBUTION CAMPAIGN

The Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS Tuberculosis Leprosy and Malaria (BACATMA) Dr. Adamu Sambo has led a delegation on an advocacy visit to the Bauchi State Police Command to seek the Command’s support and security partnership for the successful implementation of the 2026 Insecticide Treated Net (ITN) Distribution Campaign

The advocacy visit which took place on 24 August 2026was aimed at strengthening collaboration between BACATMA and the security agencies to ensure the safe peaceful and effective distribution of insecticide treated nets across all 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State

During the visit Dr. Adamu Sambo appealed for the full support of the Police Command in providing adequate security for campaign personnel ITN materials and beneficiaries throughout the distribution exercise

The 2026 ITN Distribution Campaign is an important public health intervention designed to help reduce malaria transmission and protect vulnerable populations particularly children pregnant women and communities at greater risk of malaria infection

Dr. Sambo emphasized that effective security collaboration is essential to ensuring that distribution teams can safely reach communities, including remote and hard to reach areas across the State

The BACATMA delegation appreciated the warm reception and commitment demonstrated by the Commissioner of Police CP Sani Omolori Aliyu mni psc who assured the Agency of the Command’s readiness to provide the necessary security support throughout the campaign

The Agency further reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Police Command other government institutions community leaders and development partners to ensure that the 2026 ITN Distribution Campaign is implemented successfully and that the protective materials reach the people who need them most

BACATMA CHAIRMAN RECEIVES MALARIA AND NTDs ADVOCACY DELEGATION AHEAD OF PARLIAMENTARIAN ENGAGEMENT MEETING

The Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Agency for the Control of AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria and other related diseases (BACATMA), Dr. Adamu Umar Sambo, today received an advocacy delegation from the Nigerian Malaria and NTDs Youth Corps and the End Malaria Council/African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA) Representative led by ACSM SMEP in his office ahead of the forthcoming Parliamentarian Engagement Meeting

The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration and mobilizing support for intensified efforts towards malaria elimination and the control of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in Bauchi State and Nigeria at large

During the engagement discussions centered on the importance of sustained advocacy policy support stakeholder collaboration and community participation in achieving national and global malaria elimination targets
