WHAT IS FIBROID ?
*Fibroid* = a non-cancerous growth that develops in or on the uterus/womb.

- *Pelvic pain* or pressure, bloating
- *Frequent urination* if it presses on the bladder
- *Back pain* or leg pain
- *Difficulty getting pregnant* or pregnancy complications - this depends on size and location

# # # *What causes them?*
We don’t know the exact cause. But hormones like *estrogen and progesterone* make them grow. Risk is higher with family history, being in your 30s-40s, and other factors.

# # # *How are they treated?*
Depends on size, symptoms, and if you want kids:
- *Watchful waiting* if no symptoms
- *Medication* to manage pain, bleeding, or shrink them
- *Procedures* like myomectomy to remove fibroids, or uterine artery embolization
- *Surgery* like hysterectomy in severe cases

Fibroids are benign, meaning they’re not cancer and rarely turn into cancer.
