Our today's topic will be on "CHOLESTEROL".
What is Cholesterol? Cholesterol is a waxy fat-like substance that is found in all the cells of the body. This cholesterol is produced by the liver to protect our nerves and produce certain hormones.
We have good and bad cholesterol.
When this cholesterol becomes too much in the body, it enters the blood and makes it thick. When the blood is too thick, then this cholesterol will become a bad cholesterol which is a silent killer.
What good cholesterol does to the body is this; it allows the body to produce vitamin D, breaks up digestive bile acid, contribute to the structure of the cell walls, makes certain hormones.
Excess cholesterol is stored in our arteries. Arteries carries blood to our heart and other parts of our body. When this cholesterol builds up in our arteries is leads to "Plaque". This plaque blocks our arteries and this leads to heart attack. When it blocks the arteries that leads to the brain, then it leads to stroke. It can also lead to chest pain in some occasion.
CAUSES OF HIGH CHOLESTEROL
1. Unhealthy eating habit which includes red meat, full fat dairy, margarine, hydrogenated oil, baked food, etc.
2. Lack of exercise
This is all we have for today. So you can go on and ask your questions if you have any. Thanks
