What to look for when choosing a skincare product as an acne-prone-skin or oily-skin girly.

A beautiful client of mine here came last two weeks with an acne product she bought from one of the vendors here in Nigeria, and she was complaining bitterly. When I checked the acne cream, I discovered it was too heavy and didn't absorb quickly into the skin. That is what prompted this post. If you read carefully, it will help you to choose your products wisely.

1. Look for products with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and panthenol, aloe vera, and beta glucan. They keep the skin hydrated and balanced without clogging pores.

2. Look for products that have a gentle formula. This means products that are mild and gentle. Avoid harsh products with harsh ingredients, fragrances, and alcohol/ethanol that can irritate the skin. Avoid heavy oil like coconut oil, cocoa butter, etc.

3. Look for products that have ingredients like Centella asiatica, green tea, and tea tree oil to calm inflammation.

4. Always choose products that are lightweight. This means products that are watery or in a gel texture that quickly absorb into the skin without feeling heavy on the skin.

5. Look for products that are labelled non-comedogenic that will not clog pores and cause breakouts.

6. Look for products with acne-fighting ingredients like niacinamide, salicylic acid, tea tree, zinc, retinol, and azelaic acid.
